In 1643, the manor (Beek en Donk) was sold by King Philip IV of Spain. The buyer was Jan Baptista van Elen. In 1646, the fiefdom was sold to Philips van Leefdael. He died in 1681, after which his son Johan Philips van Leefdael inherited the seigniory. In 1711, the seigniory came into the hands of the marquis of Asse, Jean de Coutereau, who was married to Johan Philips' daughter, Cornelia Johanna van Leefdael. Jean died in 1730 and Cornelia sold the seigniory in 1734 to Johan Peter van Raesfeldt. Johan Peter van Raesfeldt sold the estate in 1745 to Gisbert de Jong. In 1794, when Gisbert died, the manor came to Benjamin de Jong. He had two children: Johan de Jong (died in 1846) and Gerrit de Jong. The estate was divided between the two, but in 1809 Johan also received Gerrit's part. After the French era, the administrative rights of the manor were abolished. Rights such as the right to hunt still existed until 1923. One of the later residents, jhr. Jan Olphert de Jong van Beek en Donk (1863-1935), was governor of Curaçao. He was married to Mrs Elisabeth Maria Stern. The castle is still in the possession of the De Jong family, a branch of which has been elevated to the Dutch nobility and bears the name de Jong van Beek en Donk.

The oldest existing part is the gatehouse. This dates from around 1500. It has a natural stone entrance gate and a turret. The rest of the castle has been rebuilt regularly. A stone with the date 1658 probably indicates the year when it was rebuilt. Whether an earlier castle was destroyed during the Eighty Years' War is not known. In 1812, a large part of the castle was demolished and rebuilt, while in 1870 major rebuilding took place. In 1978, the building was restored. The castle is situated within a moat. The castle lies on the Aa. The paths on the 61 ha large estate are freely accessible, only the immediate vicinity of the castle is not. The estate consists for a part of forest (mainly poplars) and some farms.

Beek en Donk is a village in the province Noord Brabant, Netherlands. There are 10028 inhabitants.

The area of nowadays Beek en Donk has been inhabited for a long time. Tools of stone age nomadic people have been found. The first permanent inhabitants come around 700 AD. In the Middle Ages, the basis was made for the current towns. First Beek grew around the Oude Toren, and Heereind. In the 13th century, the role of Heereind was taken over by the expanding Donk. Heereind is noted in a document in 1314, where it was given the same importance as Aarle, Rixtel and Beek.

On Saint Barbara day (December 4) in 1300, duke Jan II of Brabant gave the inhabitants of 'Rikestele, Arle ende Beke' (Rixtel, Aarle and Beek) the right to use common lands around the towns. In the 14th century, Beek en donk got its first church. In 1809, it was demolished, but the tower remains, as the Oude Toren (old tower)

During the reign of Johanna van Brabant, Beek was together with Aarle and Stiphout, was sold to Dirk de Roovere, for 1.700 gulden. In later ages, the area changed owners a few times, until in 1798 the feudal system was abolished, inspired by the French revolution.

During the 80-year war, the town suffered from passing enemy armies. After the war, Beek en Donk remained poor. Only in the late 18th century, when there was more land cultivated, the situation slowly got better. In the 19th century, the town started to develop more. In 1836 the Zuid-Willemsvaart was dug by hand, and in 1880-1881, the steam tram between Den Bosch and Helmond was built, having a stop in Beek en Donk. The tram was broken up later; the canal still remains. There are plans to broaden the canal, so ships up to 1500 tons can use it.

In 1997, Beek en Donk, Lieshout, Aarle-Rixtel and Mariahout formed the municipality Laarbeek, of which the town hall is built in Beek en Donk.

The spoken language is Peellands (an East Brabantian dialect, which is very similar to colloquial Dutch).

Hi-Risers are a type of highly customized automobile, typically a traditional, full-size, body on frame, V8 powered, rear wheel drive American-built sedan modified by significantly increasing the ground clearance and adding large-diameter wheels with low-profile tires. Depending on the model and style of body, autos customized in this manner can be labeled "donk," "box," or "bubble." Hi-risers originally grew out of the Dirty South subculture, but the trend has spread across the United States. Vehicles customized in the hi-riser style are distinguished by their oversized (even disproportionate) wheels, ranging from 20 inches to 30 inches or more in diameter (largest being 50 inch), as well as fanciful custom paint-jobs and expensive audio equipment. Suspension modifications similar to those employed on lifted pickup trucks are made to give adequate clearance for the large wheels. Often the suspension is modified so the front end sits slightly higher than the rear end, giving the car a swaggering appearance. Because of the exaggerated look gained from installing a lifted suspension and enormous wheels, donks are also known as "hi-risers" or "sky-scrapers."

Donk Cars are also referred to as Hi-risers, Box cars or Bubble Cars and are basically a type of customized vehicle that has been significantly altered to increase ground clearance. This is usually achieved by installing extremely large-diameter wheels with low-profile tires. Donk Cars originally grew from the South American culture and over the years has spread to the rest of the United States and other countries. Vehicles customized in the hi-riser style are distinguished by their over sized wheels, which are quite often between 22 to 30 inches and on some occasions even bigger. These Donk cars are usually fully customized with fanciful paint-jobs and expensive audio equipment too. Suspension modifications similar to those employed on lifted pickup trucks are made to give adequate clearance for the large wheels. Often the suspension is modified so the front end sits slightly higher than the rear end, giving the car a swaggering appearance. Because of the exaggerated look gained from installing a lifted suspension and enormous wheels, donks are also known as “sky-scrapers.”

The suffixed name element -donk goes back to a geographical concept. A donk is a mound consisting of cover sand that occurs in the low-lying river area and protrudes above the later sediments . As a part of the name, the word is much more common.

In North Brabant, the word or part of the name -donk was especially attached to a large and high sand head or a plateau edge along a stream valley. Donken were a higher and drier place in an often swampy environment, making them attractive as a place of residence for people. They were also used to a lesser extent for agriculture.

Where I am form (midwest USA) a popular car customizing trend is to take a 60's-70's full size sedan, give it a radical suspension lift, and put it on gigantic wheels. These are known as donks or hi-risers. I used to hate these when I first started seeing them but I've grown to like them, despite the fact that the majority of them that I see are unsafe hack jobs.

I started building another lego lowrider and decided to go in the opposite direction, so here we are!
