An image from a few years back. This was taken using an Olympus point and shoot camera.

the girls had a blast watching them perform - HWW!

The energetic dolphins from the Loro Parque show in Puerto de la Cruz, Tenerife. I've still got something like 1035 photos to check through. Once I've deleted about 1000 of them I might have a few photos worth posting. That was a lot of photos on a single memory card.

I've been told that this shot made Explore. Well that's my first Explore shot since June 2010! Does that mean I've been allowed off the naughty step and now qualify for Explore shots again? 2008 - 83? Explores, 2009 - 105? Explores, 2010 - 5? Explores and now 2011 - 1 Explore.

The National Aquarium in Baltimore just opened its new Dolphin Show called Our Ocean Planet. I think this dolphin actually thought he could fly. Unfortunately, his flight only lasted a few moments!

Thanks everyone who view my pictures and for the Comments/Faves on them, really appreciated...

A demonstration of creative skill at the dolphin show at Kobe Sea World in Japan.

I posted this photo because I like the artistic formation of the trainers and dolphins; however, I realize it is controversial and there are ethical considerations regarding keeping dolphins in captivity and using dolphins for entertainment.

The dolphins and their trainers share a close bond

This picture was taken during a spectacular dolphin show in Dolfinarium Harderwijk (the Netherlands).

Three dolphins demonstrate their beauty and gracefulness during a jump.

Dolfinarium Harderwijk, the border of the IJsselmeer in Harderwijk, is Europe’s largest marine mammal park. A unique theme park with an impressive collection of marine mammals housing many of the sea animals like the Bottlenose Dolphins, Californian Sealions and Pacific Walrusses which are believed to be amongst the most intelligent animals.

The National Aquarium in Baltimore invited me and some other flickr photogs to their new Dolphin Show called Our Ocean Planet. We had a great time watching the dolphins and learning more about the ocean environment! It is quite amazing to see how high the dolphins can jump!

Dolphin show at the Churaumi Aquarium in Okinawa, maybe my least favourite part. Interestingly, one of the main stars, Oki-chan, is estimated to be approximately 50 years old. The Indo-Pacific bottlenose dolphin was caught off Amami in nearby Kagoshima Prefecture, and was named after the mascot of the 1975 Okinawa Ocean Expo, a big event to celebrate the return of Okinawa to Japanese sovereignty on May 15, 1972. The Expo was organized in an effort to show Okinawa in a more positive light as part of a tourism promotion strategy.

Happy New Year! I thought this colorful shot that I took at the Seaworld Dolphin show in Florida would be a nice photo to welcome the New Year!

This is another shot from my trip to the National Aquarium in Baltimore to see the new Dolphin show: "Our Ocean Planet." There were many stingrays, fish and turtles swiming around in the water, but the long exposure made look more like ghost fish.

Ace showing his stuff during the Storm segment of Blue Horizons. I love how bright his eye is! I've not had much luck taking photos of these guys, but I was happy with how this one turned out.

I was very lucky on this visit, three of the four Blue Horizons shows I saw featured the pilot whales, and after one of them I saw the celebration of the 3rd anniversary of the pilot whales' rescue! They've grown so much since I first saw them.

For those who don't know, Ace here is one of four rescued pilot whales that now call SeaWorld Orlando home. He and two females called Ava & Piper were part of a mass stranding in 2012. They were deemed too young for release by government agencies and so joined a female pilot whale, Fredi, who had been rescued after being part of a separate stranding in 2011.

Now they've grown and have learnt husbandry behaviours they're now being taught some basic show behaviours so two of the four whales will occasionally perform in the Blue Horizons show.

This is another shot I took of the incredible dolphin show at Seaworld in Orlando, Florida. I could not believe how high they could jump!

Well, a mammal really! I caught this amazing dolphin at the Baltimore National Aquarium's new dolphin show titled "Our Ocean Planet." The show was a lot of fun and the dolphins seemed to almost fly!
