A Department of Defense extra traverses the Providence & Worcester Railroad's Norwich Branch in Ledyard, Connecticut. The extra is hauling a component for an upcoming US Navy Virginia class fast attack submarine being constructed at the Electric Boat shipyard in Groton.
1940 Bristol L5G new to Western National, rebodied by Beadle in 1950. Withdrawn in 1961 and used as crew room at Launceston. Entered by Tim Riley, 333 preservation group. Stroud running day 2010.

FORT BELVOIR NORTH AREA, Va. -- An aerial view of the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) Campus East project under construction here, Sept. 8, 2010. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Baltimore District is leading design and construction of the NGA complex. The facility includes an eight-story main office building, technology center, visitor control center, parking garage, central utilities plant and remote inspection facility -- 2.4 million square feet in all. Morning , 1927, by Dod Procter which I was surprised and happy to see (and photograph) in the Tate Modern in May.
Providence and Worcester B39-8E #3901 drags a DOD caboose, a flat car for a spacer, and a "submarine part" over Rt. 6 in Danielson. Looking back, I wish I had framed this better. But c'est la vie, it works!
