Dobby is our friends cat that we are looking after. He is a house cat only so he likes to stare out the window looking at potential dinner, aka birds in our garden.

In this picture his nose is blocked by the white curtain.

These socks used the colourwork pattern from Charmed Knits, with a few modifications: I only repeated the pattern once (the part with the stranded colourwork doesn't stretch AT ALL) and made a quarter-sock; also, I used a flap heel as I didn't think I could knit the one called for in the book without leaving enormous holes on one side.

They were inspired by the socks that Dobby gave Harry for Christmas in Goblet of Fire.

This video shows some of my initial experiences with a Zerotech Dobby selfie drone. Personally, I don’t like referring to these light and small flying machines as “drones” because of the negative connotation the word causes these days. Instead, I prefer to call them “quadcopters”.

Anyway, as the name implies, Dobby is designed to facilitate taking selfies from an elevated position so that the environment around an individual can be seen. Thats not to say that the camera can’t be turned away from an individual and be used to record the surrounding scenery.

There is a pretty fair amount of technology built into Dobby aimed at making it easy to fly and keep it stable for image and video capture. In addition, there are several “automatic” routines that Dobby can perform, a couple of which are shown in this video.

The propeller arms can be folded into the body making Dobby very compact and easy to carry in a backpack, a camera bag, or even a pocket. Control is via a smart phone app. Dobby weighs less than the .55 pound that USED to be the threshold for registration. While it is light, drone flight rules still apply along with a heavy dose of common sense.

My goal in purchasing a Dobby is to provide an additional perspective to our photography when and where it is practical.

UPDATE: I sold this on eBay in December 2018.

Serendipity Dobby ^^

Dobby is Chinese. Dobby was designed by Apple in California.

Dobby is just about two weeks old.

Dobby has a twin sister called Lyra.

Dobby has never met Lyra. They were separated at birth by an unscrupulous, hungry doe.

Dobby was almost named Blue. But that would have been too obvious.

Dobby sleeps with me every night.

Dobby already has a couple of scratches.
