The White Peacock male is fast approaching during a courtship like the coming winter storm that is expected to begin in Washington DC within the next hour and continue into Tuesday.
On Friday, January 3rd we experienced a snow squall with sheets of snow coming down similar to the sheets of rain during a heavy summer thunderstorm. Shortly after, Arctic blast enveloped our region. Now, an unprecedented, almost one foot of snow is to blanket the DMV (DC, Maryland and Virginia) area with the heaviest amount right here in Washington DC.

I've asked her... the goggles were so dirty she wasn't able to see anything... and she already used all tear offs - so this was the only option.
Day 5 - We dropped by the DMV&W office in Bismark one last time. We were told a corn train would be leaving Oakes, ND at 4 PM this afternoon. Before we left we photographed Tuesday's SB Way Freight. It had been sitting overnight and was waiting for a crew to take it to the BNSF yard.

1985 wurde auch in der ehemaligen DDR das 150jährige Jubiläum der deutschen Eisenbahn gefeiert. Einer der zu diesem Anlaß gefahrenen Sonderzüge fährt hier gerade aus Löbau Richtung Obercunnersdorf aus. 94 1292 und 86 001 stellten eindrucksvoll unter Beweis, was Dampfkraft bedeutet. Der optische Genuß wurde durch die besondere Akustik verstärkt, die sich durch die Bebauung ergab. Veranstalter war, wie bei Sonderzügen dieser Art üblich, der Deutsche Modelleisenbahn-Verband (DMV) der DDR (Scan vom Dia).
DMV Cargo Rail's new Vetron locomotives are named Fighter 1 and Fighter 2. But they had not much of a fight when running light engine with two empty buffer cars. BG-DMVRC 81 972 and 80 961 are pictured in the evening of June, 10 2018 at КОСТЕНЕЦ (Kostenec). The local storks seem less excited about that train than the photographer was.

Die Flotte des privaten bulgarische Eisenbahnunternehmens DMV Cargo Rail besteht aus zwei Vectron-Lokomotiven, die als Fighter 1 und Fighter 2 bezeichnet sind. Am Abend des 10. Juni 2018 hatten BG-DMVRC 81 972 sowie 80 961 allerdings wenig zu kämpfen, als sie zusammen mit zwei leeren Flachwagen durch den Bahnhof КОСТЕНЕЦ (Kostenetz) rollten. Die Störche in ihren Nestern waren von diesem außergewöhnlichen Zug deutlich weniger beeindruckt als der Fotograf. (6592)

Virginia Railway Express EMD GP40PH-2 V21 was halting at the Alexandria station in the spring of 1994 with a train headed to Fredericksburg.
The V21 was built for the Penn Central in 1968 as GP40 3167 and then to on Conrail. Kansas City Southern picked it up when Conrail got rid of the GP40 fleet and it ran around the KCS until it went to VRE.
When VRE upgraded its roster, the V21 was sold once again and would wind up working for the guvmint as USAX 4670 at Hill Air Force Base in Utah.
A couple of months ago the youngest private railway operator in Bulgaria - DMV Cargo was forced to stop to work by the secret services and tax authorities due to a suspicions for illegal deals and tax evasion. Several days after that the two Vectrons of DMV were seen on the PIMK trains! Nobody know how it is possible, but it seems that PIMK Rail has hired the locomotives till DMV clear out everything with the authorities. So, that's a good opportunity for the trainspotters to catch those aggressive red-black Vectrons on an unusual trains like the container train of PIMK from Turkey to West Europe. On the photo you can see the second Vectron locomotive of DMV Cargo - 81 972 ahead of the train at Kazichene station. The diesel loco 07 077 of PIMK Rail is helping for the steep ascents along the route on the back.

We are suppose to be sleeping, but we can't. Mom says we are going to the DMV tomorrow. I asked what the DMV is and she says its a scary place. I think she said it stands for Department of Monsters and Vampires. A place where your energy gets sucked right out of you! Now we can't sleep. We're scared. I am not sure why we are going, but If I survive, I'll tell you all about it. I plan on bringing a stun gun for protection.
