The now refurbished Rosebank Distillery.

Rosebank Distillery's history on its present site began in 1840 when James Rankine, a local wine merchant, acquired the maltings of the Camelon Distillery, which were on the opposite bank of the canal to the main distillery. Rankine expanded the distillery in 1845 before handing management onto his son R.W. Rankine. Rosebank became a sought-after whisky among blenders, who regarded it as 'top dressing

Glenmorangie (the toponym is believed to derive from either Gaelic Gleann Mòr na Sìth "vale of tranquillity" or Gleann Mór-innse "vale of big meadows") is a distillery in Tain, Ross-shire, Scotland, that produces single malt Scotch whisky. The distillery is owned by The Glenmorangie Company Ltd (a subsidiary of Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy), whose main product is the range of Glenmorangie single malt whisky. Glenmorangie is categorised as a Highland distillery and boasts the tallest stills in Scotland.

Another from the archives...During Artprize 2015, we went into Long Road Distillery to see the art prize entries that were there. I was more interested in what was behind the big glass window. Don't know anything about distilling, except it looked really cool.

Thanks for views, comments and favs :)

One of the most beautiful distillery I have seen in Scotland.

This picture was taken in broad daylight with a 10 stop ND filter. Exp.time was 55 sec and f/22. It probably would have needed 5-10 sec more, but hey...you live and you learn:-D Finally it got an overhaul in LR and I got some great pointers from my friend Halli:-) Hope you like;-)

...and it got 5th place on LMK's Picture of the month competition:-)

Graz, quarter Gries. This old distillery lost 2020 the licence to produce the Jägermeister bitters and closed 2022.

The Gooderham and Worts Distillery was founded in 1832.

In 1871, Gooderham and Worts became one of the largest exporters in spirit production, shipping millions of gallons across Canada as well as North and South America – and at one point was the largest distillery in the world. The distillery officially closed its doors in 1990, after 153 years of production.

In the 1990s, The Distillery District was granted new life as it became a popular destination for film – it was the number one film location in Canada and the second outside of Hollywood, with over 1700 movies filmed here.

In 2001 the area underwent a huge project to restore the district in order to turn it into a car-free neighbourhood that would preserve its heritage, ‘entirely dedicated to arts, culture and entertainment.’ It finally opened in May 2003 and is now one of Canada’s top tourist attractions as well as a unique neighbourhood that is a vital part of the city of Toronto.

The Cairn Distillery is a modern distillery, opened in 2022 in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park.

One year old American Bald Eagle. The head is not fully white. How ironic, American Eagle at the mouth of the Russian River in North CAL.

As the title suggests, this superbly double-restored Georgian windmill is about to reopen to the public for the first time since 2015. All the buildings you see here were constructed in the 1830s, and even the newer railing fence is made to look the part.

The property was bought by a prominent Australian businessman, John Ibrahim, who grew to love Tasmanian whisky because of a friendship with the Godfather of modern Australian whisky, Bill Lark. Lark's (despite its relatively small size) is still one of the most prestigious Tasmanian whiskies, and John and Bill travelled to Scotland in 2016 to learn more about establishing what is to become the largest whisky distillery in Tasmania. callingtonmilldistillery.com/pages/story

The new distillery looks absolutely superb (from the outside) and will be opening in the New Year, as tourism begins to return to this island state after nearly two years enforced hibernation. I could only get some shots of the outside on this visit, but will return to show you the distillery soon. For the moment we should appreciate the wonderful way in which they have preserved the old mill and from their website you can see how the new modern distillery blends in beautifully with history. The mill will be used to grind the malts used in the production of the mash. As a lover of whisky I am delighted!
