Taken at the Southport Spit....trying out my new wide angle lens on a very cloudy moody Easter Sunday. If you look closely you will see the heads of some brave (silly?) souls in the water.
At a distance the Glossy Ibis will seem somewhat dark in appearance, but catch it closeup with a full overhead sunlight, and the iridescence produces wonderful green and rust highlights. Its dark brown eye (among other features) distinguishes the Glossy from the White-faced Ibis that is seen in the Western States.

It's Golden week in Japan which starts April 29 and finishes May 6 this year . sees people , travelling home and visiting family , exploring new destinations and taking advantage of their hard earned time off from work , Unfortunately , we have to spend this holiday at home and social distancing . to avoid the spreading of the virus .. but staying in home does'nt have to be boring , i keep my mind busy with my activities in photography , i wish you a pleasant new week , stay safe and be well my Flickr friend.....
A female Kestrel I think. We were about 2m apart, a distance we both seemed quite comfortable about.
The pandemic is driving me mad!!! I know... nothing I can do!

In the distance Mt. Edith Cavell rises majestically over this pond found along Alberta's highway 93A, which is the alternate route from the Athabasca Falls to Jasper. Several of these small ponds are along this scenic route, which offers some varied views from the busier Icefields Parkway.

It is changing into its breeding plumage. There were two of them and when I went back later in the day and there were three at a distance.
..is neither an invention of the current situation nor limited to human beings. When I saw these trees on my hiking trip on Friday along river Else I immediately had the words of Khalil Gibran (The prophet / on marriage) in my mind :

Even Grizzly Bears want to take the easy way out. Instead of following the long almost 90 degree curve in the road between Steamboat Point and Mary Bay, this smarter than the average Grizzly swam the shorter straight line route across Yellowstone Lake.

Piranga olivacea
(Scarlet tanager / Tángara rojinegra migratoria)
The smallest of the four species of the genus Piranga that breed north of Mexico, it is a long-distance Neotropical migrant, annually making the journey between northwestern South America and the eastern United States and southern Canada.
This tanager is monogamous and aggressively territorial throughout its range. It is largely insectivorous, foraging heavily on the larvae of Lepidoptera and a variety of adult insects by hovering and gleaning.
I've been away for some time and I'm sorry, life has been oh so busy.. Times are crazy with this virus and I hope you are all safe and practicing social distancing. I've missed you all so, thank you for the kind notes and mails.
