The dirty truth? I hate my dissertation.
It had so much potential, but I have failed it. And, by default, I feel like I've failed the people in the mountains who I'm writing about (ethnography's a bitch in that way). I understand this is a normal relationship to have at the end of a dissertation. But I feel no pride in it. I think that's the worst part. All this work for something I'm not even proud of.
Maybe tomorrow will be better. 'Cause all the brownies in the world couldn't help today.
