It's been a while since I've posted anything for Monorail Monday, but I just got off the phone with an old friend I haven't been in touch with for too many years and he was telling me that he's taking his family to Florida, and Walt Disney World, over the Thanksgiving holidays. It's going to be crowded there, but I'm sure he'll have a wonderful time. His coming trip was what inspired me to put up this monorail shot today.
It's amazing that even though we have been out of touch for too long of a time, we quickly fell right back into that comfortable old friendship we've always shared growing up. It was as if no time had gone by for us at all. I'm really happy we found each other again.

Thanks for looking, everybody!
The waterfalls over at Grizzly River Run is a bit of a hidden treasure. Unless you venture out into the area, you'll miss them. Great place to cool off or take a photo!
Brave the churning, white water rapids as you make your way down Grizzly River.
Disney California Adventure
This summer is when her ride opens at Disney California Adventure. Until then, she'll have to be patient.

As dawn breaks over the Rivers of America, a weary cast of travelers holds out for the 5:45 am departure on the Mark Twain.
At this point during the Disney Side 24 hour event, I had been carrying my tripod for about 15 hours in hopes of catching some golden light. The cloud cover lingered and left us instead with soft periwinkle light. Although we didn't catch any golden rays that morning, we made it to the Haunted Mansion just in time for a 6 am ride to end (or begin) the day.
This started out as a shot of Monorail Green pulling into the Polynesian Resort. I started playing around with some filters and ended up with this. I really like how this came out. This shot looks very different and unique from anything I've ever done before! I think I'm going to try experimenting more often!

The Jungle Cruise opened with the rest of Disneyland on July 17, 1955 to rave reviews. Although the attraction was popular, one day Walt heard a guest say (referring to the Jungle Cruise), "We don't need to go on that ride, we've already seen it.” Horrified, Disney realized that he needed to update Disneyland's attractions in order to keep the attention of return visitors.
To accomplish this, Walt asked Marc Davis to refresh the Jungle Cruise. Davis changed the tone of the attraction, making it a humorous trip, as opposed to the danger filled adventure that it had previously been. To this end, Davis created the Indian Elephant Pool scene (which opened in 1962) as well as the African veldt and Lost Safari scenes (which opened in 1964). At this time, the script for the Jungle Cruise was rewritten, giving it a much lighter (and pun dependent) narration.

Now that's the way to beat freeway gridlock. And hey, it's the 21st century...shouldn't we all be flying by now?

Be careful down there... I've got a BAD feeling about this! These are the words spoken from Indiana Jones as the boulder makes it way down to crush the unsuspecting guests in the famous boulder scene from Indiana Jones Adventure.

The Disney Imagineers are masters -- taking a few simple elements such as light, water and sound and creating one of the most beautiful "attractions" in Epcot-- the Fountain of Nations located in Innoventions Plaza in Epcot's Future World. This magical fountain has been part of Epcot since it's opening day. In fact, as a symbolic gesture of international cooperation and understanding, representatives from 22 countries each poured a gallon of water from their homeland into the fountain.
Guests staying at Walt Disney World's Pop Century Resort will find guestrooms themed to the “Classic Years” of the 1950’s to the 1990's. Huge, larger-than-life icons such as the Big Wheel bike, bowling pins, Rubik’s Cubes, cell phones and more add a whimsical touch to the decor. Lining the roof lines are such memorable slogans as “Can you dig it?” and “Groovy, Man.”
