Macro Mondays theme 'Rust'.

A small section of a car brake disc. Always amazes me how quickly rust will appear on the face of a disc. After a heavy rain this afternoon, these rust spots developed within two hours

The Burr Disc is a metal Disc with the Letter 'E' in the centre to make the most Easterly point in Ireland which is situated at this point in Ballyhalbert County Down Northern Ireland. I decided to upload a wee series of pictures that I took this day in Ballyhalbert. I thought this a interesting wee picture as it shows the abandoned trawler 'Ocean Adventure' in the background which gives more of a scale to the other pictures I've uploaded of this boat. The main focal point though in The Burr Disc and Asha just adds a more personal touch to this picture for me...

I attended a "Dog Bowl" earlier this year in Michigan that included a "Disc Dogs" competition, and this pair put on a great show!

A reminder of an experiment conducted when the Class 158 units were much younger. As these trains have disc brakes they are unable to clean leaf mulch off their treads, so it was decided to modify a group of units to operate with a Class 156 vehicle - which have tread brakes. One of the six 156/158 combo units is seen passing Prestatyn on a Manchester working on October 23rd 1992. Whether or not the experiment was a success is debatable as it has not been repeated. Nowadays the introduction of rail head treatment trains has largely solved the problem.

Farmers from days gone by would use this to disc their fields after they had plowed them. This one is located at The Homeplace in Weber City, Virginia.

Scartabellando in un vecchio hard disc rotto ho recuperato una serie di vecchie foto, gran parte scattate a Roma. Alcune, secondo me, meritano una nuova vita.

Disc harrowed, I'm told, to end up as soft as this. Seen at Monks Horton, Kent

Dipping into my "back catalogue" I could not resist another view of this iconic modern building in Birmingham, England,

It is the Selfridges Department Store in the Bullring, architect "Future Systems - Jan Kaplicky".

First image of the full Earth disc from the Meteosat Third Generation Imager. The first image from Meteosat Third Generation – Imager 1 (MTG-I1) reveals a level of detail about the weather over Europe and Africa not previously possible from 36 000 km above Earth. The higher-resolution images provided by the instruments on board give weather forecasters more information about the clouds cloaking much of Europe and visible in the equatorial region of Africa and the Atlantic Ocean. Sand and sediment in the waters off Italy are also visible, as well as dust or smog being carried from south Asia. This degree of detail is not possible from the instruments on the Meteosat Second Generation satellites. The image was captured at 11:50 UTC on 18 March 2023 by the Flexible Combined Imager on MTG-I1.

The Phaistos Disc is a disk of fired clay from the Minoan palace of Phaistos on the island of Crete, possibly dating to the middle or late Minoan Bronze Age (second millennium B.C.).

The disc was discovered in 1908 by the Italian archaeologist Luigi Pernier in the Minoan palace-site of Phaistos.

This unique object is now on display at the archaeological museum of Heraklion.

At the base of the waterfall, hundreds of ice discs formed. I do not know what causes them but maybe someone looking at the shot does.

I went to the Atlanta Steeplechase today. It was my first horse race to attend.

They also had disc dog competition. I had a lot of fun photographing the dogs.

Taken April 12, 2008.

yeah, there's more and more...

And what a face it is! The Great Grey Owl would easily stare me down, but the disc is all about hearing. This is of course not a wild life photo. This magnificent bird was shown to the public in the Screech Owl Sanctuary in Cornwall (Kernow). What I had not expected was that it did land next to me (and I do only manual shots). But this impressive raptor had no eyes for me, ignored me and thus graciously gave me some time to produce the shot. What a fortunate moment!

With lots of saturation and vibrancy.

Will reshoot without the cheesy chart in the background.
