I took my eye off him for one minute..well several really, I was chasing Cuckoos, like you do! It was hot and the water levels are low at the moment out on the Somerset Levels and we hadn't found a good place for Charlie to have a nice cooling paddle. We were only 10 minutes walk away from the car where the bottle of water was waiting but Charlie was cheesed off with me dawdling, (like I do!) I was scanning the branches of the trees desperate to see the bird I could hear so clearly..'cuckoo-cuckoo-cuckoo-cuckoo--s-plosh!'
Splosh? Uh oh..where has my small brown chum gone? I raced up the drove, he was nowhere to be seen, high hedges either side of me..All of a sudden he appeared through a gap in the brambles and reeds, a deer run. Oh lordy pip..what a state!
Charlie was plastered in thick black peaty bog mud.. absolutely caked, it looked like he had fallen in a barrel of tar.
Well he certainly had a good cool down, bless'im (NOT!)

So with the high costs of construction I was inspired to do my own! Any, shirtless boy, and Myself decided to rent a Dingo and dig the holes in my backyard for my deck. At only $32 a hole, that seems way reasonable. So for FGR today (7/26) the group was "Inspire and be Inspired". So I was inspired by Leif to always wear a shirt, and to spend money to save time!
Happy as a pig in shit, excuse my french, Charlie raced up and down the drove and I was hoping the boggy mud would rub off in the long grass...but ...
I took this over 25+ yrs ago... my son Travis and his sheepdog Moon.( her grandpa was one of the disney shaggy dog's fyi lol) .. but they were madly digging away in the dirt... this is called the BUSTED LOOK!!! Taken with an old film Minolta SRT 102.. ... I am aging myself here... hehe...but don't they look happy? especially the dog!!! Travis is giving me the " I didn't do it ... she did it look"!...
