The evolutionary curve of humanity varies greatly from region to region, or even from individual to individual. Competition based on hatred and ignorance can make money and give the illusion of power. But I remain hopeful that, one day long after I am gone, the ‘rotten fruit’ will fall on its own, and that people will truly become equal in terms of rights and duties.

Corria o Outono de 2015 com temperaturas que pouco diferiam das de Verão, e eu, na companhia da pessoa mais importante do mundo, ou seja, na companhia da minha esposa, passeava por Vila Real de Santo António. Era segunda feira, mas nesse ano estávamos de férias (tardias) nessa altura.
Chamou-nos a atenção uma artista de rua que tentava amealhar alguns trocos ao interagir com os espectadores de ocasião com alguns truques simples com cartas de jogar.
“Que linda!”, pensei. Pronto, nada de transcendente; até porque todas as mulheres são lindas, salvo aquelas raras excepções de, tal como certos homens, optarem de livre vontade por serem feias. Mas isso são outros cinco tostões, e longe de mim armar-me aqui em justiceiro de esplanada.
E agora pergunto eu: faz sentido haver dia mundial disto ou daquilo? Acho que, havendo respeito e responsabilidade, todos os dias são dias mundiais de toda a gente, tudo e mais alguma coisa.
Está completamente errado em certas regiões do Globo haver populações dominadas por pensamentos e ideologias medievais ou pré-históricas, onde as mulheres são consideradas “seres inferiores”, e são torturadas ou mesmo mutiladas… E há outras regiões onde, em vez de se fazer algo para que isso acabe, se utilizam esses factos para fomentar o ódio e a competição mesquinha.
A curva evolutiva da humanidade é muito díspar de região para região, ou mesmo de indivíduo para indivíduo. A competição baseada no ódio e na ignorância pode render dinheiro e dar a ilusão de poder. Mas eu mantenho a esperança de que, um dia muito depois de eu “me ir embora”, a “fruta podre” caia por si só, e que as pessoas passem a ser realmente iguais no que toca a direitos e deveres.
Entretanto tocou o despertador… Argh!

Door to Door
– Who? The infinite?
Tell him to come in!
It’s good for infinity
to be in human company.
– Our help? He hobbles?
If the fellow is lame,
give him what used to be
Grandfather’s cane.
– He wants money? No way!
I know the poor swine
wouldn’t use it for bread
but for a bottle of wine.
– He insists? Who on earth
does he take himself for,
when a tiger ended up
as the rug on our floor?
– To go and see his mother?
Now I’ve heard it all.
He’s not from up north,
and his mother’s long gone.
– A victim of what?
Life is tough.
How can he be infinite
if he’s not made of hard
stuff?
