I found and photographed this abandoned diner off Route 422 near Butler, Pennsylvania. From the comments added below, it seems that the diner is no longer at this location. [Flickr Explore, No. 95, July 8, 2023.]

Shot with the Olympus E-M1, Mark II in Chelsea, Manhattan, New York City. I was happy to see that this iconic diner is back in business and has even expanded.

While the Flickr map shows this location as the Meatpacking District of NYC it is, more accurately, north of that area, in Chelsea.

In color this diner is actually black, white and chrome. Note the person seated outdoors for breakfast in mid-December.

The Cambridge Diner with railroad tracks in the background, shot in Cambridge, New York with the Olympus E-M1.

Famous for its appearance in the movie "Goodfellas". Currently operating as Jackson Hole. Astoria Blvd., Queens

Been in a bit of a creative rut lately, but I've been working back at blogposts, here's to hoping I can get back into the creative mode again.

Over the years Don’s Diner in Pittsburgh has been a part of some 10 TV and movie productions, according to owner Marcie Kemmler. They include the movies “Warrior” and “American Pastoral” and the TV series “Mindhunter.”

Most recently the diner was used in the Paramount series "Mayor of Kingstown"

By the way the food is superb as well!

The kitchen at the style and decay house was found with this setup leading to the possibility that it's abandonment was pretty sudden. That this odd place has escaped vandalism for probably 10years or more is amazing. What it has not escaped-decay. About 10 feet behind this scene, the first floor has carved in....

New Albany, Indiana. The patrons were curious and amused at my photographing the place.

Herb: Okay, so you had a dream about this place. Tell me.

Dan: Well, it's the second one I've had, but they're both the same. They start out that I'm in here, but it's not day or night. It's kind of half-night, you know? But it looks just like this, except for the light. And I'm scared like I can't tell you. Of all people, you're standing right over there, by that counter. You're in both dreams and you're scared. I get even more frightened when I see how afraid you are, and then I realize what it is. There's a man … in back of this place. He's the one who's doing it. I can see him through the wall. I can see his face. … I hope that I never see that face, ever, outside of a dream. … That's it.

Herb: So, you came to see if he's out there.

Dan: To get rid of this god-awful feeling.

Agawam Diner, Rowley, MA

A classic American diner located in Hatboro Pennsylvania.

At the Merchantville Diner, fifth of twelve diners we plan to go to, making a series of A Dozen Diners. This place was small, tucked in between little shops on Centre Street, Merchantville's Main Street. There were only a few of us eating that day, so we had terrific service! I went traditional New Jersey and ordered a pork roll and cheese sandwich on a Kaiser roll. It lived up to its reputation!

Our local diner has closed up after 68 years, another casualty of these devastating times.

Fascinating read of its history...

Spotted at Mel's Diner, a 50's themed restaurant. The original Mel's Diner was featured in the movie "American Graffiti".

They also had a cigarette machine. But I couldn't get a good shot of it. I had forgotten that they used to sell cigarettes from machines...the good old days.

We ran across this little diner in Michigan City this spring. The sign caught my eye with its distinctly vintage Mid-Century look. Here is what I have been able to find out about it:

The Kansas Historical Society lists this model of Valentine Diner as having been created in Witchita in 1956. Apparently it was still functioning as a barber shop when they posted it as a 'double deluxe' in 2014.

I ran across this comment by MikeJ Stewart (www.flickr.com/photos/194739338@N02/), someone familiar with the building a few years ago:

"This opened here in 1956 at 10th & Franklin Sts. and was one of two locations called M&M Diner owned by Morris Kozin. Last used as a barber shop, this place is looking pretty sad. Late Summer 2021 a car went through the east side of it, now boarded up. Hopefully it'll get restored before it gets condemned. It's a landmark. I pass by it every day."

My long-standing, long-suffering, very significant other half was my accomplice in this.

I like to participate in the challenges/themes for this group - this week rather out of my comfort zone but I enjoyed being pushed.

No other diners were annoyed in the making of this portrait....

One of my sons, who LOVES diners, and I, who love taking photos, are starting a project: A Dozen Diners. He will mostly eat and I will mostly take pictures. AND eat. We will go to twelve diners in New Jersey, and only to ones we have not previously eaten in. This is the first, Crystal Lake Diner in Westmont, by Newton Lake. Not by Crystal Lake which is in Oakland, 2 hours and 9 minutes away. Go figure......

And I will also use this for #34 - Glass, 52 in 2017
