Giant Buddha statue at the Golden Temple, Dambulla. This is considered to be Asia's largest statue in the dharma chakra mudra. This is the hand gesture portraying the wheel of dharma, symbolising the teachings of Buddha and path to enlightenment.
The Christmas tree is in the coldest room in our house. But Dharma doesn't want to stay away from the tree. :)

I found this wife and husband getting ready for their evening customers preparing Indian snacks on this street stand. Believe me its hard work, long hours on feet, the heat from the boiling oil, hot sun and dust from the road can get you. But they were calm, not yelling at each other and were just nice to each other.
I really like this shot, for me it tells many things about life…
They are there for each other, in marriage, in life, in happiness, in friendship, in business and in hardships as true partners. Two of them keeping the promises they made to each other.

While I couldn’t get a shot of the actual Bhavacakra, it cast a nice shadow on the world.
What goes around comes around, we hope, on November third.

Here is a photo to commemorate an amazing trip I took this time 19 years ago: a three-week fishing sojourn with friends Hans Manner-Jakobsen, Mike Rucker and Matt Adams along the epic Tahoe-Yosemite Trail. This 185-mile trail starts at Meeks Bay at Lake Tahoe, crosses four highways, and takes you deep into the back-country of California's Sierras and ends up at Tuolumne Meadows above Yosemite Valley.
Inspired by Jack Keroauc's The Dharma Bums, which I'd just read, Mike and I decided to detour onto the Pacific Crest Trail, which would take us past Slide Mountain beneath the mighty Sawtooth Ridge and to the top of Yosemite's 12,279-foot Matterhorn Peak. So, here is a photo of me in September 1990 with three-weeks of stubble and ponytail dreadlock atop the summit after an electrifying climb.
Seeing Sean Penn's most excellent Into the Wild recently was also a real trip. Set during this time period, the story of Christopher McCandless perfectly evokes the frame of mind and youthful spirit of adventure my friends and I were in at the time (except for the part about needing to do it alone).

"I felt like lying down by the side of the trail and remembering it all. The woods do that to you, they always look familiar, long lost, like the face of a long-dead relative, like an old dream, like a piece of forgotten song drifting across the water, most of all like golden eternities of past childhood or past manhood and all the living and the dying and the heartbreak that went on a million years ago and the clouds as they pass overhead seem to testify (by their own lonesome familiarity) to this feeling. Ecstacy, even, I felt, with flashes of sudden remembrance, and feeling sweaty and drowsy I felt like sleeping and dreaming in the grass."
—Jack Kerouac, "The Dharma Bums"
