Mural 'Looking Back' (2016) by British artist D*Face (or D-Face) in the Rue Saint-Dominique at St. Laurent Blvd.
Montréal, Québec, Canada.
D*Face (a.k.a Dean Stockton) has been a leading figure in Urban Contemporary Art, inaugurating his career on the streets around the year 2000 by hand-drawing stickers and posters, adhering them all over the streets of London and beyond. He is one of the best known figures to rise from the British street art scene.
'Looking Back' was created for the 2016 Montreal Mural Festival. D*Face has always been fascinated by faded advertisements or ghost signs from bygone eras, so he attempted to replicate this effect as the foreground to the mural. The text that can be seen relates to his family’s history having emigrated from Montreal circa 1915.
