“A loner by nature and an introvert... I am a twinkling star, burning bright amidst a cloudless night. As such, I tend to fade in and out of people's lives. This aspect of me is often misunderstood as rejection or a lack of love and caring. In reality, the only way I can survive as an introvert, is to drop from the sky, from time-to-time, recharging within the energizing landscape of my inner-universe. To love me, is to let me me have the space I need to illuminate the sky. I can't be taken hostage or held captive. Inner-light is what gives my star its twinkle.”

TRUE COLOURS – CYNDI LAUPER
A BEAUTIFUL MOMENT
Some may hurry; some may scurry
but others take their time
to stand still; take stock
and really be present in the moment
the white collar workers hurry on by
too busy to look up
their heads bent down avoiding eye contact
their finery blurred; without much definition
the observer looks behind him
to make sure he missed nothing
he is smart in his Sunday best togs
he is satisfied with the path he took
and looking back has no regrets
his journey will take him forwards
into a brighter tomorrow
leaving the past exactly where he left it
where it should be; behind him
the future is unknown for him and for all of us
but his spirits are buoyed up
and reflected in his true colours
bright and vibrant for all to see
nothing can dim the light for him
perhaps temporarily; a passing shadow
briefly blocks the light, but then it is gone
Don't wait for the light
be the light, this wise bird tells to me
don't wait in the dark; search for the light
but never give up without a fight
for you are the light
and you have the strength to fight for what is right
it is not always the easiest path that brings us joy
how can we learn if we remain unchallenged
this bird is innocent and has no knowledge of his fate
he is bred to end his brief life by the hand of man
from the moment he is freed from his man-made gate
but each year some escape this fate
and I look at his beautiful countenance
and wonder how anyone could take that from him
still there will be some who try
and he must keep a watchful eye
yet on this perfect day and in this perfect moment he and I
stand comfortably together
with no thought or knowledge of when we will die
just two souls intertwined within this single precious moment
and we are both content
as we both consent
to allow ourselves to be happy
and let the future take care of itself
yet briefly I find myself wishing
that this moment could last forever
for in this moment I have seen eternity
and what I see is beautiful
my eyes are filled with light, not outwardly
but emanating from behind these eyes that see so much
and I wait in hope that one day all will see
a single moment, such as this, for all eternity.

For an SDS Hammer drill
Generally, a rotary hammer drill or roto hammer is called an SDS drill. Standing for Slotted Drive System, an SDS drill bit has slots along the shank. This means when it is placed in the drill, it creates a stronger connection which results in less tightening when being used.
The SDS tool holder has two distinct advantages when compared to regular hammer drills with 3 jaw chucks…
1. The slotted drive ensures that the drill bit doesn’t slip inside the chuck.
2. The slots allow the drill bit to move forward and back during the hammering action.
I just got these new drill bits and chisels because I’ve some work to do with them soon.

Learning to navigate the unpredictable terrain of life is an essential skill to develop. We can't live a happy life if we are unwilling to pave the path that will lead to our personal fulfillment and destiny. Learning to sit comfortably in the seat of uncertainty is challenging, but equally rewarding, because discovery is what waits just underneath the surface of that uncertainty and that gives us the chance to become fearless explorers of our own lives.

This Mid Century Modern-style visitor center was constructed between 1963 and 1966 to replace a small stone comfort station (built in 1933), and was designed by Cecil Doty and Burt L. Dewalt for the Mission 66 Initiative, meant to modernize the facilities at US National Parks. Located at the crest of the Going-to-the-Sun Road at Logan Pass, the visitor center features a roofline that follows the hillside underneath, with a long covered outdoor stairway connecting the exhibit hall and gift shop at the top with a restroom and service building below. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2008, owing to the significance of its design.

I’m planning on building a new wooden shed in Spring
This is a cordless impact driver and cordless hammer / screwdriver that come as a combo in a handy strongbox.
I’m looking forward to starting; of course I’ll need to lay a concrete base for the shed first.

Lighting Info: 1 12" snoot at full power to right, one 1/2 power bounced from ceiling, grid at 1/8 power to left. Oh and of course the Free Dewalt flashlight fullpower. :-)
The build of my little shop is coming along nicely, although I still have a long way to go. I just finished up the miter station.
I still need to install the sheetrock on the ceiling and finish up the lights. Also need to build a rolling cart for the Dewalt planer, which will be stored under the right wing of the miter station. Also on the To Do list is to build some storage cabinets, and/or shelves.
Not pictured are my benchtop drill press and bandsaw, as well as a couple other smaller items.
I'm saving up for the Wahuda 8-inch benchtop jointer.

Janie and Triv fit plywood panels in to place around the base of the deck... to keep snakes out!
Well, mostly to keep the wind from funneling under the deck and up through the spaces between the planks.
But also to reduce issues with mice.
And snakes.
Have you noticed that a lot of tools come in yellow and black. Apparently all you need to get guys to buy something is to make it yellow and black. Oh have a girl in a bikini say it's good.
And that's just what they'll do!

Saturday Self Challenge
The next challenge will be "Old and New". Have two subjects together in a photo, one being old, the other new. They don't
necessarily have to be old and new versions of the same thing, just as long it is apparent one subject is old and the other new.
A visit to my husbands workshop for this challenge.
The modern item, well about 10 years old, is a Dewalt battery operated drill. The other one which is older, is a hand operated joiners brace, which is around 60 to 70 years old. I looked and you can still buy a brace on Amazon, but the wooden parts showing on this one have now been replaced with plastic, which doesn’t look anywhere near as sturdy.
Thank you for your visit and your comments, they are greatly appreciated.
While working in the shop, I set my Dewalt drill on top of the Wen drill press table and the light went on for this shot.
One of my future projects requires a lot of hand-routed text… a LOT of hand-routed texts. So before I start, I am working through different router bits and methods to make sure I have a good process down before I wreck something. No rush, it's all about learning, perfecting, and mastering!

I treat myself to a new reciprocating saw
Making jobs easier and more efficient & enjoyable.
Who wouldn’t rather saw mechanically than by hand?
Fun in making stuff 😎
It came as a bare unit (no plastic carrying box, no battery). I already have the batteries and don’t need an extra carry case.

Pozidrive -A screw drive is a system used to turn a screw.[1][2] At a minimum, it is a set of shaped cavities and protrusions on the screw head that allows torque to be applied to it. Usually, it also involves a mating tool, such as a screwdriver, that is used to turn it. The following heads are categorized based on commonality, with some of the less-common drives being classified as "tamper-resistant".
Most heads come in a range of sizes, typically distinguished by a number, such as "Phillips #00" or "Torx T5". These sizes do not necessarily describe a particular dimension of the drive shape, but are often arbitrary designations in the same sense as a "Size 8" dress.

Well now we are in the realm of early nights and dark times it was time to dust down the whisk and v24 :D
I had originally arranged to meet up with Mike Ridley, Allan England & Paul Appleby at this location a few weeks ago but as i drove along the country lane where its situated the cars infront all came to a sudden halt! What a disaster, some turnip had rolled their car and the road was closed with me 0.3 miles from the destination! I ended up havin to go home :[
So anyway as i was so badly missed :P Mike arranged for me and him to go down on Wednesday night and as it was gonna be a fun night Neet, Paul Appleby and Mick Straker joined us.
There were so many different areas and rooms so after we all went in one of the main areas we started exploring and i found this room that was quite spooky! There were seats made out of bricks and wood which had me thinking this was some kind of crack den :[
Not to be deterred i focused the camera and got in position with the Pipkins Blaster Mk2, lit the wool and fired the shutter. After the burn i splashed some light with my headtorch on the graf and closed the shutter.
We all took plenty of different shots and i was made up for Neet as she was in her element watching us all messing about aswell as learning the ways of waftery :D
This place is so vast 3 hours just wasnt enough so i can see plenty more visits in the future but i'll be watching where im walking more next time as when i woke up at 5 am with a searing pain in my foot i mustve stood on a brick in the dark. Next morning i couldnt even stand on it :/ All is well now though :)
Please check out the other nocturns shots from the 2 visits.
On a project for my Father in law
We’ve a lot of it to do. We’re converting a former pub into four apartments. Completely gutting the place; here I am with my Dewalt sds hammer drill.
Yes, it’s a dirty job, but, we get all the fun stuff when we install / construct the new.

Year Nine Of My 365 Project
Designed by FGM and Valerio Dewalt Train (VDTA), the new Gordon Parks Arts Wing opened on the University of Chicago Laboratory Schools campus in the fall of 2015. The George Lucas Family Foundation committed $25 million to the University of Chicago Laboratory Schools in support of the schools' new arts hall. George Lucas and Mellody Hobson requested the new building be named in honor of the iconic photographer, writer, film director, and musician, Gordon Parks.
The new Gordon Parks Arts Hall has 94,000 square feet on three stories, with art spaces that match the talent of the students and teachers who use them. With a new 250-seat Sherry Lansing Theater, a 150-seat drama studio, and a 700-seat assembly hall, the Gordon Parks Arts Hall dramatically increases the Lab Schools' ability to support theater and music programs.
As an alumni of the Lab Schools and a current kindergarten teacher, I was honored to be asked by our director to create a Lego model to be presented as a gift to the donors.
The most challenging aspect of the build was creating a model of a structure and grounds that were not yet complete. I worked closely with our associate director and facilities director to gain access to plans and site visits. It was very exciting to get to go on the roof of the adjoining buildings (those I had been in as an elementary student) to get a sense of roof details. Once a week I would walk by the building to see what progress had been made and adjust what I was doing to match the actual building. The unusual angles and huge expanses of glass proved to be particularly difficult considering the limited palate of trans-clear elements.
Features of note include the 'green' roof on the south section of the building. The round shape and sloped roof of the auditorium. And the unusual geometry of the glass along the north facade.
It was truly a pleasure to be able to create this work. As part of my research I read Gordon Parks' memoir and reflected on the way he often accepted a new challenge without fully knowing how to complete the task. His way of learning through doing reminded me of the Deweyian philosophy on which our school was founded. It was also very exciting to be able to create something as a gift for another artist who has a profound influence on my childhood and life.
