Carrozzeria Ghia had developed a Pick-up version built on a Fiat Nuova 500 Giardiniera base. It was first shown on the 'Salone dell' Automobile di Torino' in November 1961. It was a prototype, and it did not came into production.

But a few years later Moretti and Giannini took over this design and started to take in production almost identical Pick-ups.

Ghia is a main coachwork company in Italy. It did a lot of commissioned work for Ford, Volkswagen and Fiat. But it developed also own production cars.

One of the most successful cars on a Fiat 500/600 based cars was the Jolly, a funny beach cabriolet with wicker seats.

The firm is since 1974 part of Ford Motor Company.

These 315s were developed as a response to the second 'oil crisis' in the late 70s, and as such were the least powerful and least specced E21 models to be produced. Italy, renowned for it's heavy taxation of bigger engines, proved to be one of the best markets for these cars. Not the only one I saw on this trip either, and not the only 'small engine special' either.

Nice and run down looking also.

Gion is a district of Kyoto, Japan, originally developed in the Middle Ages, in front of Yasaka Shrine. The district was built to accommodate the needs of travelers and visitors to the shrine. It eventually evolved to become one of the most exclusive and well-known geisha districts in all of Japan.

The geisha in the Gion district (and Kyoto generally) does not refer to themselves as geisha; instead, Gion geisha use the local term geiko. While the term geisha means "artist" or "person of the arts", the more direct term geiko means essentially "a child of the arts" or "a woman of art".

This neighborhood in Kyoto has two hanamachi (geiko communities): Gion Kōbu (祇園甲部) and Gion Higashi (祇園東), which split many years ago; Kōbu is larger, occupying most of the district, while Higashi is smaller and occupies the northeast corner, centered around its rehearsal hall. Despite the considerable decline in the number of geisha in Gion in the last one hundred years, it is still famous for the preservation of forms of traditional architecture and entertainment.

Part of this district has been declared a national historical preservation district. Recently, the City of Kyoto completed a project to restore the streets of Gion, which included such plans as moving all overhead utilities underground as part of the ongoing effort to preserve the original beauty of Gion.

A result from attempt #3 of developing E6 film, Lomography X-Pro 200, in B&W then C41 chemistry. This time, I developed in Rodinal 1:25 at 38C/102F for 30 minutes, fogged the film for 3.5 minutes on each side, then developed in Unicolor/Argentix developer at 38C/102F for 25 minutes, followed by 6.5 minutes in blix.

E6 chemistry is not the easiest for me to get, plus its shelf-life is short, and I don't shoot too much E6, so those are the reasons for me for trying this method. I only have another 2 rolls of E6 film; two other Lomography X-Pro 200 rolls. I may try this method, with some alterations again, or cross process them. Don't think Rodinal and Lomography X-Pro 200 are the most ideal, but just experimenting with what I have available at the moment; it produces a lot of grain and an orange tint, which needs to be colour corrected. I read that Provia 100 and HC-110 is a good combo.

Mirit Ben-Nun develops a style where he tries to demonstrate the manifestation of movement, rhythmic repetition and the speed of objects on the canvas. In the process the artist often asks difficult questions or causes reflection without giving easy answers. Her curiosity, your open mind and a commitment to dialogue are her best tools to address your artworks.

These works often challenge our ideas about how art should look or how it should behave. Her art is not based on what was said before and does not depend on the academies of art, breaks traditions, and does not imitate the real world, it is an art that transmits through its works the inner world of the artist. Through imprecise and significant characters, it radiates different ideas about the reality of the world of human dreams.Mirit gives us a clear idea that art is not separated from life and from the real world in which we live, reflects thoughts with style and unique focus.

Mirit Ben-Nun uses lines and points as an expressive resource and does so by exploiting nuances and associations to their fullest. Some forms follow the same direction and others change constantly, even urgently. Its language is visual and independent of its expressiveness; it lies in the value and organization of its elements.

The 'things' of the visual world are unimportant, the point is the achievement of reproduction of the world and human nature. Constantly encouraging creativity. In this case pointillism conveys emotions by the effect of using color, points, lines and thus capturing the attention of the observer.

I did a small write up of my experiences here.

Excerpt from artgalleryofguelph.ca:

In 1983, the Art Gallery of Guelph (AGG) grounds were developed into the Donald Forster Sculpture Park to be used for permanently sited sculptures, temporary installations of large-scale pieces, and an outdoor activity space for events like children’s art classes. The outdoor sculpture collection is enhanced with landscaping elements such as paved areas, lighting, berms, and plantings appropriate to the design of the park and siting of individual works. The objective is to acquire sculptures that represent the best work being produced in Canada while including some examples of historical and international works. The Sculpture Park is a unique tourist attraction for the city and region and an important educational resource for area educational institutions. Six commissions have been funded with the generous support of du Maurier Arts Ltd. The AGG Volunteer Association has also contributed to the development of the Sculpture Park by raising art acquisition funds through the annual Gardenscapes garden tour. This outstanding venue for permanent sculpture by Canadian artists ranks among the best and most diverse sculpture parks in Canada.

The Donald Forster Sculpture Park, located on two-and-a-half acres adjacent to the building, is a major curatorial project that contributes significantly to AGG’s overall programming objective to present exhibitions, research, and a dynamic collection of contemporary Canadian Art. It is the largest sculpture park at a public gallery in Canada, featuring 39 works by prominent Canadian and international artists. The Sculpture Park is open daily from dawn to dusk.

Before Flight by Janet Morton (born 1963, lives and works in Guelph, ON) was created to explore the idea of home through materiality and time. The sculpture is composed of two parts: a bronze-cast bird’s nest measuring approximately 6-feet-across perched on top of a 20-foot-tall limestone Doric column. Morton used the Doric column as a Classical motif that references Greek architecture as well as the columned porch at the entrance to the gallery. Columns are the foundation for modern architecture and symbolize stability, power, authority, and quality. In Before Flight, Morton is interested in the dichotomies of permanence and impermanence, stability and transition, the domesticated and the feral. The sculpture also combines two conceptual themes that have persisted in Morton’s work for almost twenty years: the monumental and the idea of home. This seemingly simple juxtaposition posits the tensions between natural and constructed worlds: one is a temporal structure, the other is an architectural form intended to stand the test of time.

The Harvester by Florence Wyle (1881-1968) depicts a standing male figure drinking deeply from a water jug. This representational sculpture emphasizes the physicality of the figure, particularly the dynamic upper torso. An agricultural labourer, his posture communicates strength and his gesture replenishment. He is a noble and dignified figure. Throughout her practice Wyle honoured the working class, both male and female. Wyle and her partner Frances Loring together were known as “The Girls.” They lived in the American Midwest before moving to Toronto. Both prolific artists, they were well known for their war memorials and sculptures of workers in the munitions industry. Wyle originally studied medicine; however, after taking mandatory drawing, painting, and sculpting courses, she chose to be a professional artist.

Canadiana/Begging Bear by Carl Skelton (born 1961, lives and works in Toronto, ON) references Canada’s rich and varied wildlife traditions and is inspired by the stylized art forms of Canada’s Inuit. Skelton’s sculpture stands at the bus stop located on Gordon Street in front of the Art Gallery of Guelph. Canadiana/Begging Bear is arguably the most beloved sculpture in the park and is often costumed by clandestine members of the Guelph community, who use the bear’s popularity and street presence to promote community based events or to make public announcements. Although it wasn’t the artist’s original intent for the sculpture to perform as a public forum, Skelton welcomes this kind of community interaction with his art. Canadiana/Begging Bear stands at 7.5 feet tall and weighs over 300 pounds. Posed with one paw outstretched in a pleading gesture, the sculpture is an artistic metaphor for Canada’s native animals who have been displaced by cities built on their natural territories.

Portland developed a reputation early on in its history as a hard-edged and gritty port town. Some historians have described the city's early establishment as being a "scion of New England; an ends-of-the-earth home for the exiled spawn of the eastern established elite." In 1889, The Oregonian called Portland "the most filthy city in the Northern States," due to the unsanitary sewers and gutters, and, at the turn of the 20th century, it was considered one of the most dangerous port cities in the world.
