The iconic twin chimneys stacks at Cockenzie Power Station in East Lothian were demolished at 12 noon today in a controlled explosion; a second explosion brought down the nearby steel turbine hall.

This closed coal-fired power station was designed in the late 1950s and opened in 1967. It was decommissioned in March 2013. The 149m-tall chimneys had dominated the local skyline for the past 50 years.

I'm a walking nightmare, an arsenal of doom, I kill conversation as I walk into the room...

Back in 1992 GM introduced the Ultralite concept car. It was the first four-passenger internal combustion engined car to be able to drive 100 miles per gallon (under favourable circumstances). The car had skinny high-pressure tires for low rolling resistance, lightweight carbon fibre construction and a low-drag shape.

The futuristic shape made it a suitable vehicle for use as a San Angeles Police Department car in the 1993 movie Demolition Man, starring Sylvester Stallone, Wesley Snipes and Sandra Bullock, set in 2032.

This is my second entry for this month's LUGNuts challenge, called Let's break some records.

At long last I managed to make the final class of the Red team, not the last if the TF2 characters for sure, I have one other made and others I'm planning on making, still trying to figure out the Sentry Buster and some of the other accessories. Anyways onto this guy, what makes him a good Demoman fig? Well I used the cloth thing I removed from a duplicate Garmadon body for him, a Kreo armor, and a Ninjago movie mask as his collar. The Demo gun is also from Kreo in case you were wondering.

It is getting late. The Bijou Planks final show of the evening is over and the lively streets of Old Town become marginally quieter as people begin heading home.

As I walked through this massive 19 story building undergoing demolition in downtown Toronto on a warm day in June, I couldn't help but feel underwhelmed as I went through room by room of a mostly empty concrete shell. I navigated my way through the dark basement by way of flashlight and came upon a doorway with concrete debris covering most of the opening. I could see daylight coming through a small opening between the rubble and the top of the doorway, I climbed over the obstacle and found myself inside a large two story room with towering piles of broken concrete that reached the ceiling. Climbing up one of the mountains of concrete toward the ceiling of this two story underground swimming pool, where chunks of concrete some as large as a person hung precariously just a couple of feet above my head. As I peaked through the openings I could see construction equipment as well as the tall monolithic building looming overhead. A surreal experience that I still remember vividly to this day.

The Residence College Hotel built in the 1970s was part of the Brutalist movement in architecture, at 19 stories it was an imposing feature that was part of The Toronto General Hospital. Originally constructed to serve as a home for nurses working at the hospital but more recently used for student housing as well as a hostel in the off season.

The streets of Old Town are full and, it would seem, so are the rooftops.

But evil-doing (or even evil-planning) does not go long unnoticed in Paprihaven! Already spying on that would-be triple threat...

Buzz Lightyear: Hmm... those three reek of villainy! I see Hawkman has left but Buzz Lightyear will quickly extinguish any fires of foul play!

Or rather, the remains as of August 24, 2016.

A new bus terminal, a new overall traffic solution and.....a new shopping mall.

The latter is exactly what this city needs.

Any area, any suburb with some sort of selfrespect, have a shopping mall.

So, consequently, the city council came up with the brilliant idea to add another one, in what used to be a pretty nice part of the city.

And as the night grows later, justice grows more vigilant!

Buzz Lightyear: I saw them around here. Criminals if ever there were... criminals!

John Spartan: Yeah... You just point 'em out, Buzz Lightyear. And I'll put 'em down.

Buzz Lightyear: They were... Aha! There!

Several months ago my friend Barry Bosman suggested that I build the police car used in Demolition Man and it has been on my to-do list ever since. As it happens, the movie was on TV last week, which prompted me to have a go. Since taking the picture earlier today I've made more progress, but sadly it's now too dark to make decent photographs.

I may eventually also build Lenina Huxley (Sandra Bullock) and Simon Phoenix (Wesley Snipes), but since I lack the parts I need, for now I had to settle for John Spartan, the main character played by Sylvester Stallone. I'm not a big fan of the man as an actor, but he was well-suited for this role, as a violent and bad-mouthed cop from the past. I first saw the movie last week and found it quite enjoyable.

Buzz Lightyear: Right over there... in the shadows, of course!

John Spartan: Let's take 'em!

Integrating the A-pillars with the windscreen and doors was the biggest challenge of the build. The aerodynamic shape of the car posed relatively few problems, probably because I've built so many aircraft models over the years.

Reaching a 100 mile/gallon fuel consumption may have been the main aim of building the Ultralite, but the gull wing doors were a stand-out visual feature of car and fun feature of the build.

April: Oh! It's almost show time! They're queuing up!

Parker: Okay... let me get a few shots here...

The cut-off and tapered rear-end of the car is fairly typical for low-emission vehicles.

My final "draft" of this collection of patches from fictional law enforcement agencies. After doing the one last year I bought a better frame, found a few more patches, and dropped one real patch that made it in. Most of the patches were bought off ebay, or other websites. On the other collection I had the notes added for each patch, but this new Flickr does not let me add them.

Photo stuff: This photo was rather challenging for me because of the flash glare on the glass frame. I set my MarkIII on my tripod looking right down and set the flash in a soft box toward the bottom at an angle. I photoshoped out the tripod glare.

From top left to right and then down here is what the patches are, and what media they come from: LCPD "TJ Hooker", Police "Transformers", MetroPolis Police "Adventures of Louis and Clark," Reno Sheriff "Reno 911", New Caprica Police "Battlestar Glattica", Mayberry Deputy 'The Andy Griffith Show", Chinese Sheriff "Firefly", Lawkeeper "Defiance" Eureka Sheriff "Eureka", Gotham Swat "Batman Returns", Counter Terrorist Unit "24", Police with A's in it "Almost Human", Amity Police "Jaws", Hawaii 5-0 "Hawaii 5-0", San Angeles Police "Demolition Man", Raccoon Police "Resident Evil", Sandford Police "Hot Fuzz", Police Wings "Blade Runner", Hill Street "Hill Street Blues", Security "Firefly", Gotham Police "Batman", Jericho Sheriff "Jericho", Metropolis Police "Batman movie" OCP "Robocop", Bristo Camino Police "Hostage", King County Sheriff 'The Walking Dead", Hazzard Sheriff "Dukes of Hazzard", World Police "Team America", Main Force Patrol "Mad Max", Metropolitan Police "Police Academy", Ocean Beach Police "Terriers", Starfleet Security "Star Trak TNG", Gotham Police "Batman"

The concept car was powered by a three-cylinder two-stroke petrol engine mounted in the back. In the movie the car was said to be electric.

Time to start screamin and ravin,

It's 13 Daze at Paprihaven.

This year our freaks and fiends

Are out to haunt your fave cuisines!

So bring a fork, a spoon, and definitely knives,

Because there will be monsters out for your lives!

When Chuck Norris assembles his gang of 80's action heroes for Halloween trick-or-treating, they don't go hunting for candy, they go mask hunting.

As in, they go after the fiends who wear the masks!

Sure, some of the baddies are hard to kill, or have strange weapons, or attack you in your dreams, but there is nothing...

🎡🎸🎸🎸...absolutely NOTHING... 🎸🎸🎸 🎢

...that can stop an 80's action hero after a hard-rock training montage!

No weight machines, or jogging tracks, or training equipment, or silly efficient stuff like that! No, these guys train by beating giant truck tires with sledgehammers, and pulling herds of moose uphill in the snow, and doing chin-ups on a rusted steel girder 1500 feet above the ground with Plymouths strapped to their legs! They swim upriver in the rapids while rabid sharks attack, all to a driving, pounding 80s rock soundtrack!!

*ahem*

So the monsters had no chance because of all that awesome training, and, of course because...

Chuck Norris once played Russian Roulette with a fully loaded gun and still won.

Chuck Norris once won a game of Connect Four in only three moves.

The Dead Sea was alive until Chuck Norris swam there.

Chuck Norris once had a heart attack and his heart lost.

Jack was nimble, Jack was quick, but Jack still couldn’t dodge Chuck Norris’ roundhouse kick.

When Chuck Norris is in Rome, the Romans must do as Chuck Norris does.

And now all is done and it is time,

For a last bit of fun with one more rhyme.

We hope you enjoyed without too much terror,

And perhaps even laughed at our 4.5 error.

This was terribly fun and we'd like to do more,

But we now must wait for 2024!

Happy Halloween 2023 from Paprihaven!

The cars in the movie were depicted as having a number of other futuristic options, such as an auto-drive system, voice-activated controls, auto-inflatable tyres and a system that could fill the passenger compartment with foam to protect the occupants in case of a crash.
