Grape hyacinths / Traubenhyazinthen (Muscari)
in our garden - Frankfurt-Nordend
Spring is a little bit late this year. Same time last year I sat in beautiful sunshine outside in a t-shirt. Not a good idea to do the same now...Zaandse Schans, The Netherlands
It's strange how instant gratification evolves over time: from popping bubble wrap... to pushing a button... and now, returning to "normal"...
But "normal" has changed, normal is now wearing a mask and practicing physical distancing.
Delaying gratification can slow the virus spread and help with returning faster to something more like the "old normal".
What is required from us and how we respond to that will shape the story we'll tell in the future.
I know for a lot of us, photography is an escape form the madness of the world, but in the context of this photo it is a reaction to an action.
Last night, the Village of Beecher finally hosted their fireworks show on Labor Day weekend, 2 months after it was originally scheduled. The delay was because the Delta variant was really starting to ramp up on infections. Since then, cases in the US have increased steadily, most notably in the last couple weeks. About 6% more of the US has been fully vaxxed between when this show was delayed and now.
It was at this point during our travels that the wife was starting to realize our trip home might take longer than expected. Soothing, reassuring, delaying words followed: "this stop does not take us out of our way...," "this is our last stop, I swear...," "we won't be delayed more than a few minutes..." No, but the 40 minute wait for the southbound train will, just a little.
Always do it on my own
So I gotta get through it
And the only thing I know
Is to love what I'm doing
Never give up, never slow
Till I finally prove it
Never listen to the no's
I just wanna keep moving
My agenda saw me starting my Ester holidays at the Danish West Coast today. Unfortunately circumstances were against our plans, so no Easter Eggs on the beach, looks more like playing hide and seek with myself in my garden („got you punk, you desperately need a hairdresser“). Anyway, as soon as martial law is over in Europe I will turn North to get my annual wellness time in Denmark. Instead of my first coastal shot of the year please enjoy a picture taken last weekend of river Werre near Löhne, Ostwestfalen, Germany
I stood in the rain and watched the leaves fall of this awesome tree in the park for maybe longer than I should have, I was pretty soaked at the end lol Worth it to see such nice colors : )
Took on my phone, Huawei P20 Pro
2 landscape 42mp raw photos merged together in lightroom
You just have to get used to the fact that I am soooo slow and a lot of my pictures take a year or more to see the light of day.
A fence image from the big snowfall in January.
Happy weekend everyone!

Trying to catch up my delay ... (which becomes bigger and bigger) ... but I need to post a new photo from time to time ...
Thank you in advance for all your faves and comments. I might answer several WEEKS later. And I might post other photos in the meantime.
⭐️Thank you in Advance for your kind ‘Faves’ and visits they are so very much appreciated. 👍
I cannot always ‘Thank’ everyone individually, for their visits and ‘Faves’ however, I will always try to respond and thank all those that leave a ‘Comment’. If I do not reply to your 'Comment', it is not because I am ignoring you, it's because I have not seen the 'Comment'.
Your 'Comments' do not always appear in 'Notifications' or Flickr mail, so, I am sorry for any delay in responding. Often your 'Comment' is only spotted 'On the Page' on the day, that I see it. (seen ONLY when replying to someone HAS 'Commented' on the image, and I see a notification)
Re-Working Towards a Better World
Sorry for the long delay, but it took some time to close Working Towards a Better World, and since then we have had a hurricane here in Florida and I still have no power.
Firstly, I would like to explain that is was with much sadness that we decided to close the above group. It became clear though, that none of the administrators had sufficient time to efficiently run the group so we decided that the best thing to do was to close it while it was running well and not let it deteriorate. I would, however, like to encourage you all to continue with your beautiful and important works which contribute to a better world, art is an important means of communication so please keep your works coming!
Secondly, and most importantly I would like to thank all past administrators for all their wonderful help and input that made this a good group. Dwi, Michael, Fede, Camille, Maria, Anne, Saffron, Jimmy, Wayne, Aurelia and Dianne. You were all the rock of this group, thank you so gratefully for all your endless and loving work, support and contributions without which the group would not have been so successful.
I would especially like to thank my good friend, Dwi, who has been with me through thick and thin from the very beginning to the end, working tirelessly, diligently and lovingly for the group. My deepest thanks, love, and friendship my good friend, Dwi, you most certainly have been the wind beneath my wings!!!
Thirdly, and equally as important, I would like to thank all of the members/contributors who participated in this group. Your works were beautiful, poignant, happy, sad, fearful, featuring different emotions and all appealing for a better world, may we each continue to reach out and try and make a difference.
Heartfelt thanks to all of you and may we all live in tolerance, and understanding of each other and find the necessary peace to live in harmony.
With love ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Dwi's Message to All Administrators and Members
"I would like to thank everyone who has been a member/contributor of Working Towards a Better World. Please note, that during the closure no-one was banned or blocked it was just an automatic closing procedure.
Thank you to all my friends who have been administrators and helped take care of the group. I will never forget you all. And thank you to my dearest friend, Sonia, for accompanying the group together with me from fruition until the end.
See you all soon, and thank you!
Dwi ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ "
Thank you for your kind visit. Have a wonderful and beautiful day! ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
Zoo Animals
There always seems to be a stigma between Zoo Animals and Creatures in the Wild, from a photographic point but as I cannot get about as well as I could. So if you can get the right image, that’s good, and makes me well satisfied of what I can achieve. Hope you like this series. I know I enjoyed the experience. Stay safe. Patrick
Ps I’m now having computer problems so there will be a little delay in responding. Just typical.
The unseasonably warm weather in the mid-Atlantic region of the United State has delayed the peak autumn color change. Despite this, I was able to document some of the change during a trip through Ricketts Glen State Park in rural Pennsylvania, this weekend. Before today this region has had very little rainfall, so the falls are not roaring at their full grandeur, but I was quite pleased with what I was able to capture.
NS 316 waits patiently behind a broken in half 310 in Euclid, Ohio at UD. This edition of 316 had a teardrop window SD75i CN doing the honors. After hearing that they were stopped just 200 feet from the crossing of London Road, I knew that I had to get in the car and shoot, regardless of the 20 degree freezing rain that was falling. Not only were they stuck behind 310 which had 3 CN units, they had to wait on 23K which also had a pair of CN’s. Seven CN units on NS?
I had got up early to shoot sunrise and got nothing because of the haze/smog. I came out half an hour later and got this.
We had spent the night at the fort which was amazing but hot water didn't seem to be a priority hence quite a stinky trip to Jaipur after breakfast.
A delay in the Cardiff area allowed me to easily beat the train up to Chepstow to grab this shot of 60054 now crossing the River Wye with 6B13 05.00 Robeston - Westerleigh.
It always works out that the sun gets blocked by clouds minutes before the shot. And, well that happened here. Even though it's filtered light, it is better than nothing.
WE 7005 leads NS 60Z with 93 loads of stone over the Chagrin River in Willoughby. This particular move was delayed by NS multiple times with crew calls making it possible to shoot in good light (when you don't get cloud f-ed).
Thanks to the birdies for the help
A big 'Thank You' to Andrew Collins for Identifying this bird.

Or failure to launch, possibly. We notice more Canada Geese than usual hanging around here even as January approaches. Of course I don't really know birds (or what they're thinking).

Sometimes you just have to sit on a rock and wait for the magic to happen.
I love the patterns that fallen leaves make. And the jumble of different kinds...
This was taken in my garden during one of the earlier frosts of what has been an unusually frosty winter for recent times.
This one was another adventure using Nik Color Efex for the stylising. I really like these filters for producing some really nice photo-realistic effects. Definitely the ones I would want on my desert island. (If you would like the preset I created for this, just ask.)
This one is not for a group or a project. I just liked it :)
Thanks for all your comments and faves. I'll try and respond as and when I am able! Have a lovely week...
Thank you for taking the time to look. I hope you enjoy the image.
