A White-tailed Deer (Odocoileus virginianus) buck from Willacy County, Texas.

Another prince of the South Texas Brush, with his bone armaments curved round his head like a crown of daggers.

Caught these two well matched Red deer stags having a rut in some lovely early morning golden and misty light. Taken in Richmond park UK, a joy to watch and photograph.

Big old boy still strutting his stuff in some nice light and lovely autumnal colours. Taken Richmond park recently.

The big fella from Richmond park, London, a while back, cropped in heavily, and black and white. He was a magnificent Red deer stag, cervus elaphus, here staking his claim to the area and all it's hinds (females). Great to see and hear !

Snapped this big old boy a while back, just before the rut, standing near the top of a slight hill, the highest piece of land around, and the best place for him to let all around know so. This bit of land was his stand, the place where he stood strong and willing to take on all comers for the next few weeks. He truly was an impressive fallow deer buck (Dama dama ), one of the biggest I've ever seen, and caught in some amazing sunset golden light. Taken near Sevenoaks in Kent, UK

Took this a few months back, don't worry, a big crop with a big lens, though he did have his eye on me. A huge powerful old boy with the deepest roar in his neck of the woods, didn't see any others coming to take him on while I was there. Cervus Elaphus, Taken Richmond park, London, UK

This big old Fallow deer buck (Dama dama) was the dominant Buck around, here he is resting on his stand at the last light of a golden evening, in an area where he literally makes his stand to take on all comers during the rut. He was resting after a day of seeing off several other bucks, and attracting more females to his harem.

www.paullindleyphotography.co.uk/

Fallow deer bucks don't eat during the time of the rut, losing up to 30% of their bodyweight as they concentrate on the task ahead. This fella had his stand at the top of a hill with all the lesser mortals scattered around him below, often having to take one of them on when they thought the time was right. Some fallow deer stands are many generations old.

It was my friends Birthday yesterday so i made him a flower pot out of a book. I saw it on Tumblr or something.

Brauhaus Riegele Biergarten: definitely a work of art!

I thought this rack was so strikingly displayed against the wide stripes in cinnamon brown and dirty cream or pale yellow.

Caught this Red deer stag, cervus elaphus, early morning few days ago in Richmond park, London, UK. It was a misty morning and the golden sunlight was just making it through the trees as this Red deer stag had a bit of breakfast, a joy to watch him.

while shooting a blue-light vehicle drove by and illuminated this spot blue, a funny effect yet I prefer the version without this deafening blue

a moment later a blue-light vehicle drove by and illuminated this spot blue which caused a screaming effect on the facade, yet I prefer this more 'usual' version

Snapped this big old fella couple of days ago in Richmond park, in some lovely early morning light that lit up the Autumnal colours. A cracking Red deer stag.

Red deer stag, cervus elaphus, roaring with his antlers adorned with bracken, trying to make himself look even bigger than he is, and he was a big old boy. Taken Richmond park, London, UK recently.

Many thanks all for views, favs and comments, much appreciated.

Spent last few days in the New forest national park, UK, photographing the Red deer when this magnificent fellow crossed this Autumnal forest path just thirty metres from me and a couple of other nature lovers; it was one of those moments ! His harem of twenty hinds and some of their young had already crossed before him, he was bringing up the rear. Love the New forest.

He can lose up to a third of his body weight during the rut, eating little as he strives to keep his females with him, taking on all comers, roaring loudly to announce his presence and attract other hinds in the area to join him.

There was some bigger stags about, but he was one of the most confident looking ones.

He was a real beauty. Red deer, cervus elaphus.

Thanks for looking !

Just in time for Christmas, here’s a deer antler wall decoration.

Rothirschrudel (w)

Fun things to do with fabric: Make tea towel calendars (this is my actual for this year: 'Engaged, tea towel calendar by Su_G'), next to the fabric deer head with antlers from Steiff (last of a run from their factory outlet - a great place for bargains if you're there in person).

The Steiff Museum is well worth a visit, especially for anyone interested in making soft toys. It documents both the production processes and the amazing story of a female entrepreneur:

See 'Engaged, tea towel calendar by Su_G' as fabric @ Spoonflower. For cut & sew purposes, one yard = 4 tea towels. I cut, hem & give these as gifts.
