As you can see there are no precious metals or stones in this one, but I think it's gorgeous anyway. Sad to let it go but I must declutter my room and give it a good clean.

Oak sideboard and Gibson prints--and lots of stuff to declutter. Plans are to switch this with my dropleaf desk, and move the stereo (probably into the kitchen). Since the sideboard sits next to my front door (just to the right), it tends to gather clutter as a de facto landing pad.
We moved into this house in August 2008. This room has semi-organized once and then I decided to declutter the basement storage rooms. This is the result. ::sigh::

I'm trying to declutter in preparation for moving house, but I'm far too sentimental and find it quite difficult. I bought this Bloom eyeshadow in Australia over 10 years ago. I never wear it anymore and it's crumbling everywhere, but it's so pretty that I can't bring myself to throw it away. I need to toughen up!

In our age of excess, a grassroots movement has taken root: to live a smaller life. One challenge out there is to reduce your possessions to 100 things. Own only what you USE and/or LOVE.
At one point in my life I was actually there! While I did have a few family heirlooms and photo albums stored, my day-to-day life included only about 100 possessions. At the time we had sold everything and were living and travelling in a backpacking tent and a Toyota Previa van. I remember feeling very light and free and honestly content.
Somehow, day after day, I have built my life up to having so much space and owning so many, many things (including about a million dandelions! ;-)).
It must be spring fever that makes me want to declutter, to purge, to make bare, and to have only the necessities in my life again.
