A macaw's scream has been registered at 100-106 decibels. I have no doubt! This is our blue throated macaw letting me know his presence. He is not a screamer, per se, but all macaws instinctively scream at dusk (telling the flock to come gather for the night).

Built in 1963, serial number PAC/W/21624 was operated by the United Kingdom's Royal Air Force as XR679. The two-seat trainer's single Viper 11 turbojet converts kerosene into droves of decibels as it produces up to 2,500 pounds of thrust.
This is the Savanna Sharpcollar Cicada (Oxypleuran herequadraticollis) just after the final mould (In Kruger Park). Some Cicadas live up to 17 years underground and their emergence and final moulds can come in real waves. The mecahnism they use for producing the loud sound is interesting and easy to find on Youtube but works using membrames and the abdomen as a air pump....

Maria Sharapova has reportedly been recorded at 101 decibels, ahead of Serena Williams (88.9), and only slightly more than the woman many credit — or blame — for starting the whole trend. Monica Seles (93.2 decibels), who was inducted into the Rogers Cup Hall of Fame on Monday night in Toronto, was drawing scorn long before some of the game’s current stars had emerged from elementary school.
Seles, whom Navratilova once accused of sounding like “a stuck pig,” did not embrace the notion Monday.
“If you look back at tapes, as a nine-year-old girl, I was doing the exact same thing,” she said. “I think it’s unfortunate because men grunted many times before — Jimmy Connors (for one) — and nobody said a single word about it. With females, I think for a lot of people, it’s hard to accept when they’re strong out there.”

Sound is measured in decibels (dB). A whisper is about 30 dB, normal conversation is about 60 dB, and a motorcycle engine running is about 95 dB. Noise above 70 dB over a prolonged period of time may start to damage your hearing. Loud noise above 120 dB can cause immediate harm to your ears.
I am too old to take any risks - too many "Black Sabbath" concerts when I was young !
90 decibels. Loud as a jet taking off at 1 mile. On the streets of downtown Berkeley. Workers were MOSTLY wearing ear protection, I was glad to see, but it doesn’t help the passerby. I have a decibels app on my phone. They are vacuuming the sewers or something down there under the street.

A simple check list of noise levels in everyday life--just showing that a decibel (loudness) level of 85 and above is damaging to your ears. The longer you are exposed to such levels, the more dangerous it is to your hearing function.
A noisy restaurant can measure 85 decibels without half trying.
Don't take this lightly folks. It's not fun (or cheap!) to be dependent on hearing aids, as I am. Not all hearing loss is a result of noise assault, but much is. Service in the military is one common and well known instigator. Years of listening to high-volume music ("rock") is another.
If you haven't already done the damage, take note and take noise seriously.
And if you already have hearing loss but aren't admitting it, or haven't yet taken action to 'fix' it with hearing aids, DO IT NOW. The longer you put it off, the harder they are to get used to. Having good hearing aids makes the difference b/n 'keeping up' with life, and falling behind--forever !!

Yeah, some of them. Not a working that is going to provide any measurable amount of stress for a pair of Paxman's finest. But today I got to hear a few brief moments of full bore as the RHTT lifted away from a signal check.
Today's Colas fix has been administered. Tomorrow's dose is but hours away.
