upper left is the LED bargraph (for debugging and cool factor). upper right is the pair of i2c connectors (one input and one feed-thru for daisy chaining). bottom right is the pcf8574 PE chip. far right is the 3x3 pin array for selecting the 3 bits (a0,a1,a2) of the PE chip.
6 bits on the PE chip are mapped to 3 chip-selects, a clock and a data line. this allows each of the 3 PGA2311 chips to be accessed with their own CE line (or logic OR them to talk to them all; like a broadcast).
building this by hand took about half a day. I like to take my time and have a neat layout, both on top of the board and below.
wire is kynar wire-wrap wire. still useful for something ;)
Lots of repaint (red) areas can be seen here. This was before I started putting blocks like walls, bad guys and so forth on the GPU via transform3d().
Debug options are also shown in the UI where elements of the game like the "pulse" effect, background images (sprites) and so on can be disabled as a way of testing performance. Live DOM stats are also displayed. The game uses hundreds of DIV elements.
You can also try it with the debug options enabled via profile=1.

To access this screen, open the CF card slot, turn on the camera, press the OK + MENU button together to see the firmware version screen, now press the following sequence:
UP, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT, SHUTTER, UP
If you did it right, the screen will change and you can use the arrows to navigate to different pages, if you didn't, close that CF card door and try again.

The uC32 features a USB serial port interface for connection to the IDE and can be powered via USB or an external power supply. The board takes advantage of the powerful PIC32MX340F512 microcontroller, which features a 32-bit MIPS processor core running at 80 MHz, 512K of Flash program memory, and 32K of SRAM data memory.
The uC32 can be programmed using MPIDE, which supports PIC32. It contains everything needed to start developing embedded applications. In addition, the uC32 is fully compatible with the advanced Microchip MPLAB® IDE and the PICkit3 in-system programmer/debugger.

Dorkbot Bristol, December 2008: I took along my robot/car chassis to work on. It was originally a Hitari Tumbler radio-controlled toy, but I've removed the radio and fitted an L298 H-bridge and an ATmega32 microcontroller. There's a 6V 4Ah sealed lead-acid battery, strapped to the chassis (temporarily) with cable ties -- a bit of a botch, which I have now cleaned up!

Upgraded my home network box from Ubuntu 8.10 to 9.04. Use it as a firewall and home server, and after the upgrade it was unreachable. Fix: move the usb-disk from one usb-port to another.
