Foto feita no Parque Tarobá.

Lohit Incident: Condemn Out-of-Bounds Order on the Woman Student,.

Ensure Impartial e~nquiry ~nd Justice !! .

JNUS Uexpresses deep concern over the recent incidents in Lohit hosteL Jn order fo·r justice to be ensured, it is imperativethat a thorough and unbiased investigation take place. lmmedicllcly after the incident, the police was calJed into the.

campus and complaints were registered with the police by a JN U woman student as well as the concen1ed warden of theLohit hostel. The JNUS U General Secretary also reached Loi1it when (he woman student concerned contacted him. Inthe C:iscussions that took place on the spot in the presence< f}cvcrn l facu lty members, and subsequently, it was assuredthat a fair enquiry would be instituted into the ?ntirc ~nd_dcnt. In the current scenario of serious allegations by awoman student and a warden of Lohit, it is necessa.-y that a prQper enguiry take place to establish the truth. .

We have now come to know that the wcmm1 .! udent has bc£n tit!dared ~out of bounds' by the JNU.

administratinn, till the enquiry takes place. Th~:~ {~ecislnn O}i.CC aga3n smacks of administrative high-handedness-it is completely unacceptable and condemnable, nnd 1:iH be :~tr·ongly protested. .

JNUS U would like to point out that the present unfortunate situatir·~ 1 Vio,.ild in all probability not have arisen had the JNUadministration handled the situation more sensitively. Some of the .~~lets in this case need to be highlighted: The.

woman student concerned had been asked to vacate the Lohit hostel, and shift to Sabannati. However, the reasons forthis hostel transfer were not provided to her. The student t:oncerned, as w~ll as JNUSU repeatedly approachedthe DoS office to ask for a copy of the complaint on the basis of which the hostel transfer was ordered. The DoS keptrefusing to. do so and sending the student back to the ho:,tel office without any reason. JNUSU along with thestt:~dent even approached the Vice Chancellor in this regard -and the VC in their presence instructed the DoS to providethe copy ofthe complaint and the reasons ofthe transfer within 24~ hours. Despite this, the DoS still refused to supply the.

complaint l~tter the next day. Throughout, the DoS office h~~haved with its characteristi~ insensitivity, callousnessand highhandedness. It is this stubborn, obdurate attih!f~c of the DoS '''hicb exacerbated the situation. The.

v-:hole situation could have and should have been dealt with feu more transparency and sensitivitv..
