For an art-project at school my daughter got this huge "model", its standing in the living room (for how long..........;-))
Anyway, she got downstairs this morning, and she is her usual grumpy self, I was taking pics of the doll, and she hugged it!
Quite like the compo, lol!

When you spend time with Lions, the bond you see with the family unit is immense, It is literally everything in their lives. They do everything as a unit and they spend considerable time in building those bonds every day. So it's no surprise to see them sleeping attached to one another. This was a very rainy day, and they spent a lot of time pressed together for warmth and bonding. It's pretty impressive to see. They are very intelligent animals and it shocks me everyday to know that people actively hunt them for sport. Breaking that family into bits with the shot of a gun. Their life is hard enough without being predated by idiots.
Not sorry to offend anyone who hunts for sport, it's pointless dick waiving.
after 2 years, without coming to Brazil, my daughter arrived from Australia. I'll stay with her until November, when she'll be back. See you soon my lovely friends!!!

It is with great sadness that I share the news that Margo passed away yesterday to cancer. She was a photo / nature enthusiast and appreciated sharing her photos with this community so much. She spoke of all her connections close and far away, and enjoyed reading the dutch comments as a connection to her roots. Thank you for all the kind comments and supportive words over the years. My heart breaks to lose her. She was simply the best mom a daughter could ever ask for.
Western Lowland Gorilla (Gorilla gorilla gorilla) named "Leslie", born 10/19/16 - with her mother "Kokamo".
Gorilla babies will begin eating some vegetation at around 2.5 months and make it the majority of their diet by 6 to 7 months. Still, some will nurse for comfort 2.5-3 years or beyond.

A mother and daughter that allowed me to do their portrait while they were in Valley Forge Park re-enacting colonial life for the visitors. They were a delight to photograph. Mom was charming and her child (as you can see) is cute as a button.
My daughter told us not the first time she felt aseleep after a very
short walk. Maybe this was her only excuse not to walk further.
I am making a bit of an assumption with the title but these two oriental pied hornbill (anthracoceros albirostris) were both females and often seen together. Photographed on Hat Yao Noi, Phang Nga, Thailand.
The Daughter: "Mommy, look what I found."
Me: "Yes, honey, you look beautiful. You do realize it is 95 degrees outside right?"
The Daughter: "I don't care, Mommy, I like it."
She dresses up ALL the time. I mean ALL the time. She changes her clothes about 5 times a day and that has no exaggeration in it.
We cleaned out closets and drawers tonight. The Daughter found this hat and sweater that one of my friends (thank you, Amy) gave to her. She loved it!
