In use again, probably later than it should have been as I've missed a chunk of decent weather. With less old cars in the fleet (and the LS400 temporarily off-road awaiting an MoT) it should see more use this year.
It's booked-in for FOTU in July, the first time I'll have taken it there since 2016.
I got this Datsun 620 truck almost ready for paint, now I am waiting for warmer weather so I can paint it outside.

Model years 1973-1979.
From my own limited observational standpoint when I was just a kid (10-12 years) it seemed as though Japanese mini-pickup trucks I noticed in traffic were usually Datsuns (such as the 520 model) instead of Toyotas. The only thing remarkable about them to me was their compact size compared to the American models of the day.
During my high school years, a classmate of mine drove one of these Model 620 Datsun pickups daily, a mustard colored one with a bed/box slightly shorter than the one above. It was a nice, attractive truck. Soon there were many more of these to be seen out in traffic, their jaunty good looks boosting their popularity I would imagine.
Affordable performance combined with simple mechanicals helped the Datsun 510 remain a popular automotive enthusiast's car for many years after its discontinuation.

This particular one has a history of being photographed in the past, even taking part in an edition of the local Automobilia event a year prior as a sales stand. I mean... How could you not! Such a lovely blue with red pinstripes!
This Datsun 620 is one of the Hot Wheels nightburnerz 5 pack set, this is what the truck looks like stock before I did the wheel swap in a previous image.
Early 70s Datsun seen outside a classic car garage in SW London for sale, no MOT history, taxed to Apr 2026.
I like how the sign and the shadow next to it complement the truck's driver-side window. Previously thought it was an old Toyota truck; was pleasantly surprised it's a rare Datsun.
