Once we have the turtles in hand, we work quickly to measure, weigh and tag them, photograph as much as we can, take tissue samples, check for parasites or other organisms living on the shell or skin, and assess their overall body condition. With clear protocols and lots of practice, all of this is running quickly and efficiently by end of my week there.
