When I saw this I wasn't sure what it was or what it represented as workers were finishing the installation. Since then I've learned that it represents data visualization it reflects the global impact of food production and consumption on the environment. Part of the "Around The Table" exhibit at the New York Botanical Garden. I still don't understand it but it's nice to look at.
Under the cover of night, Eurasian forces move through an industrial area of Pristina. The target: a LORO data centre believed to contain data drives taken in the arrest of multiple Eurasian ambassadors during a meeting in Copenhagen. While the Nordic oil fields had been of prior interest, the seized data contained developing information on large reserves hidden along the Northern coast of Libya.

The fighting along the temple wall was brutal, but Vornskr held the line, repelling wave after wave of droid infantry until an armored division attached to the 501st led by an young Jedi mounted a counterattack and shattered the droid offensive. Once relived Lieutenant Galaar and his men were summoned the GAR command center by General Kenobi, the lead Jedi General and commander of all operations on Rhen Var. Along with several other ARC troopers from the Two-Fifty-Third, Galaar was briefed of a developing situation within the data archives of Bravo Base. While the troopers had been busy repelling the droid attack an unknown assailant had slipped into the base and accessed the data core. This infiltrator is believed to be a Dark Jedi, a traitor who had followed in the foot steps of Count Dooku. The Dark Jedi had already been engaged by both troopers stationed at Bravo Base and ARC troopers from the Two-Fifty-Third, both were reporting heavy casualties and failure to stop the intruder. The task of intercepting the Dark Jedi and recovering the stolen data now fell on the ten ARC troopers gathered in the command center who General Kenobi would personally lead.
Upon dismissal the ARCs made their way back to their squads, who they hastily briefed before boarding the gunships, doing their best to pass on the most critical parts of the anti-Jedi training they received on Kamino, to the regs under their command.
The flight to Bravo Base was short and the gunships got them as close to the Dark Jedi's last know location as possible, dropping the strike team off in a courtyard within an ancient Jedi temple. Galaar had been tasked with clearing the Northeastern most region of the Temple and lead his men at a slow pace, constantly checking his scopes for any sign of the rouge force user.
The signs of battle were everywhere, burn marks and deep gouges covered the walls, and all around lay the broken corpses of fallen brothers. With a sigh Galaar signaled his to keep moving, there was no way they would be able to stop this "Dark Jedi", Galaar wasn't even sure he had enough training to take one on alone and he knew for sure the regs wouldn't stand a chance. The squad ventured deeper into the temple, leaving the carnage behind as they entered another interior courtyard. Stepping the doorway Galaar's scopes suddenly lit up bright red notifying him of hostile forces along the opposite wall, a squad of B1s and a figure dressed in black robes. Cursing Galaar turned and shouted orders to the troopers behind him.
"Romeo get on the long range comms and notify General Kenobi that we've found the Dark Jedi, relay our coordinates and let the General know that we have been engaged!"
"On it Sir!"
"CT-44-5913! CT-45-2601! Get the Plex and Z6 up here now! We need to block him in, target the opposite entrance and bring it down! Tracker! Take your team and flank left! CT-05-4329 take yours and flank right! We need to overwhelm him, once you start shooting don't let up! Alright Vornskr, let's kill this chakaar!"
Vornskr sprung into action, executing Galaar's orders quickly and with precision, for a moment it looked hopeful, the droids were cut down instantly, and the Dark Jedi appeared to struggle to deflect the overwhelming base of fire. It was when CT-44-5913 fired a rocket at the opposing doorway from his PLX-1 that the plan fell apart. The rocket stopped midflight as if some thing had grabbed it and Galaar watched in horror as it changed direction and slammed into Tracker's team, obliterating the three troopers. Then an invisible force slammed into Galaar knocking him from his feet as the Dark Jedi used the force to send both clone and droid alike hurtling across the courtyard.
Grunting, Galaar dragged himself to his feet, his head was ringing and he could taste blood in his mouth, something was broken. Looking Galaar saw the cloaked figure disappear back into the temple. Galaar knew this was it, he couldn't let him get away, grabbing his blasters Galaar stumbled forward, blasting two droids as they moved to block his path.
Activating his comms, Galaar notified command of his situation...
"This is Lieutenant Galaar, my squad is down, I am in pursuit of the rouge Jedi"
... and with that he disappeared into the temple.

The Mata-Nui mainframe has been infected by the Makuta Virus. Engage Data Knight Kopaka to freeze the virus's operations and cool the overheated GPU.
My entry into Ron's What If...? contest. I decided to reimagine Kopaka as a sort of cybertech knight dude in a Tron-esque data scape. Originally this was going to be a very different character design, but I ended up splitting it into this and another MOC I'll be sharing in October since the two concepts didn't really merge well.

Love to take the train and to end up in Winter Park. So refreshing to see people and to walk around so many trees. Is a city with an Urban Forest Management Plan. Also, there are benches in every corner. In my walk around the town, always stop at a church that is open to the public.

two weeks ago I was confronted with my data in a hard way. My large storage device “Drobo” refused to operate after I upgraded it with another 2TB drive. The drive became unresponsive and after a while it did came back giving me the opportunity to retrieve some data…since this was my largest storage device I had to make sacrifices to the data I could retrieve, so I had to delete all my movies, series and software I had collected over the years. Luckily I did manage to backup my photography work.
That same week my laptop died and it has been sent back to Apple for repairs.
Fortunatly I do hold regular backup sessions, but it’s still a hassle and I’m once again aware that all data is fleeting, and no storage medium is safe from harm. Photo’s can burn, disk drives will fail…it’s time holographic data crystals are made…at least they seem stable enough….

Cincinnati (/ˌsɪnsɪˈnæti/ SIN-sih-NAT-ee) is a major city in the U.S. state of Ohio and is the government seat of Hamilton County. Settled in 1788, the city is located at the northern side of the confluence of the Licking and Ohio rivers. The city drives the Cincinnati–Middletown–Wilmington combined statistical area, which had a population of 2,172,191 in the 2010 census making it Ohio's largest metropolitan area. With a population of 301,301, Cincinnati is the third-largest city in Ohio and 65th in the United States. Its metropolitan area is the fastest growing economic power in the Midwestern United States based on increase of economic output and it is the 28th-biggest metropolitan statistical area in the U.S. Cincinnati is also within a half day's drive of sixty percent of the United States populace.
In the nineteenth century, Cincinnati was an American boomtown in the heart of the country. Throughout much of the 19th century, it was listed among the top 10 U.S. cities by population, surpassed only by New Orleans and the older, established settlements of the United States eastern seaboard, as well as being the sixth-biggest city for a period spanning 1840 until 1860. As Cincinnati was the first city founded after the American Revolution, as well as the first major inland city in the country, it is regarded as the first purely "American" city.
Cincinnati developed with fewer immigrants and less influence from Europe than east coast cities in the same period. However, it received a significant number of German immigrants, who founded many of the city's cultural institutions. By the end of the 19th century, with the shift from steamboats to railroads drawing off freight shipping, trade patterns had altered and Cincinnati's growth slowed considerably. The city was surpassed in population by other inland cities, particularly Chicago, which developed based on strong commodity exploitation, economics, and the railroads, and St. Louis, which for decades after the Civil War served as the gateway to westward migration.
Cincinnati is home to three major sports teams: the Cincinnati Reds of Major League Baseball; the Cincinnati Bengals of the National Football League; and FC Cincinnati, currently playing in the second division United Soccer League but moving to Major League Soccer (Division 1) in 2019. The city's largest institution of higher education, the University of Cincinnati, was founded in 1819 as a municipal college and is now ranked as one of the 50 largest in the United States. Cincinnati is home to historic architecture with many structures in the urban core having remained intact for 200 years. In the late 1800s, Cincinnati was commonly referred to as the "Paris of America", due mainly to such ambitious architectural projects as the Music Hall, Cincinnatian Hotel, and Shillito Department Store. The Copernicus Sentinel-2 mission takes us over the Hainan Strait in southern China.
The Hainan Strait, or Qiongzhou Strait, separates Guangdong's Leizhou Peninsula on China’s mainland to the north and the island province of Hainan to the south. It also connects the Gulf of Tonkin on the west to the South China Sea on the east.
Although narrow and shallow, the strait is a crucial maritime passage. Zooming in, a lot of boats can be spotted as white dots in the water, especially along the route connecting Hai'an Port, at the southern tip of the peninsula, to Haikou on Hainan Island. The water along the coasts is light brown owing to sediment.
The curved Leizhou Peninsula juts southward into the South China Sea. The largest island on the east coast, Donghai, forms two bays: Leizhou Bay to its south and Zhanjiang Bay to its north. Facing both bays are cities with the same names: Zhanjiang, the largest city on the peninsula, and Leizhou, which gave the peninsula its name.
Leizhou is surrounded by numerous greenhouses, visible as grey rectangles, while rice fields appear in shades of light brown, depending on the vegetation growth stage at the time of the image acquisition. The green area running along the city coast is a mixture of ponds, mangroves and mudflats.
Hainan Island dominates the bottom part of the image. The name Hainan means ‘south of the sea’, reflecting the island's position south of the strait. The capital Haikou can be seen in grey on the northern coast. Haikou is the island’s main port, situated to the west of the mouth of the Nandu River. Flowing northeast for over 300 km before draining into Haikou Bay, Nandu is the island’s longest river.
Two artificial islands, still under construction, can be seen off the Haikou coast: the circular-shaped Nanhai Pearl Island and Ruyi Island, off the northeast coast. Both islands will be holiday hubs connected by a bridge to the mainland, one of which is already visible south of Nanhai.

I love to revisit the Lego themes of my childhood, as many AFOLs do. Thinking back on the space faction that I found most appealing, Spyrius has to be it! Even as a kid, I always wondered what on Earth Spyrius was about. I mean M-Tron had mining, the Exploriens had archaeology, I even had a decent reason for why Ice Planet loved rockets with warheads so much (Originally part of the Futuron faction, these explorers were trying to spread out to other worlds typically too cold to inhabit. They were trying to thaw the planet with thermonuclear warheads.)
But Spyrius? The name seems to imply they have some secret mission, possibly espionage. I don't see how that's possible when you're trolling around the planet in a giant robot! I've always wanted Lego to revisit the theme (I know they won't, but a guy can dream, right?). I always envisioned a neo-Spyrius losing the bright, bold red for a sneakier dark red. I saw them as less as big robot-wielding baddies and more comparable to modern-day hacker groups, looking to disturb the peace maintained by Unitron by hacking their data systems and stealing information.
This is my attempt at a neo-Spyrius vehicle - a silent hovercraft built to sneak into a heavily-guarded outpost, hook up some cables, and quickly grab all the info it can. I built a small Unitron base so you can see that in action, and I hope to have more pictures of that this week.
I hope my picture-taking and photoshopping is getting better. I'm super rusty! I am looking at cameras so I can stop using my phone, as well as a better lighting setup. Still, even if I get all that, I'll certainly need more practice.
