Actually it was sunset, but who's counting. Maybe I don't give lens flair enough credit, I always thought it was a nuisance, but this shot was too cool to throw out.

Tamiya 18012 - Dash-1 Emperor Silver plated body (Type 1 Chassis) (2007)

HMS Dasher was an Archer Class Escort Carrier, built by Sun Shipbuilding, Chester, Pennsylvania, USA, as the merchant ship 'Rio de Janeiro'. She was converted to a convoy escort aircraft carrier and transferred to the Royal Navy (Pennant D37) on completion and commissioned in July 1942.

HMS Dasher saw action in the Atlantic and the North African landings of Operation Torch in November 1942. She also saw action in the Russian convoys to Murmansk.

On 27th March 1943, whilst carrying out take-off and landing operations, HMS Dasher mysteriously exploded in the River Clyde, between Ardrossan and the island of Arran. She sank within eight minutes with the loss of 379 lives, only 149 of those on board survived. An eye-witness at the time reported seeing one of her Swordfish aircraft crash into the stern below the flight deck just before a massive explosion took place on board.

The loss was the second-worst disaster the Royal Navy suffered in home waters in WWII, following the sinking of HMS Royal Oak at Scapa Flow in 1939.

For the sake of morale and to deny enemy propaganda, the disaster was hushed up, with many relatives of victims not knowing the circumstances of loved ones deaths and much of the details not becoming known until many years later.

No Dancer here, but there's a lovely Blue Dasher that came to visit last summer. Winter is coming, and this is a welcome reminder of warmer days.

There were several people who wanted to get their picture take with this guy. He didn't understand why until I showed him the picture I took. For some reason he didn't think he was that muddy.
