The Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble is a mutant mix of what has inspired them (sic) musically, and especially visually.
TKDE started off as an audiovisual project back in 2000, influenced by old silent movie directors such as Murnau and Lang, but also the animations of Jan Svankmeijer or the films of the Quay Brothers.
Jason Köhnen and Gideon Kiers, started creating soundtracks to old silent movies (Nosferatu, Metropolis) and progressively composed new music inspired by these images which eventually became TKDE.
Trombonist Hilary Jeffery (originally from the UK, residing in Amsterdam) joined in 2004 and introduced Swiss born Nina Hitz .
The debut album 'The Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble' was recorded with this line up, and was released on UK electronica label Planet Mu early 2006.
TKDE expanded to six when Eelco Bosman and French vocalist Charlotte Cegarra joined the ensemble in 2007.
A second album is in creation...

Очередной СКИФ, подаривший зрителям немало открытий, за что и любим, итак: 💫

01. Anna von Hausswolff 🇸🇪

Кто не пришёл тот не я — это и был концерт года! Для начала Anna Michaela Ebba Electra von Hausswolff вызвала потусторонние силы, играя на своих ламповых клавишах (тут подразумевался церковный орган и готический собор, как в Утрехте, например) потом в дело пошёл инфернальный вокал, немедленно вызывающий катарсис, удивительно как у такой хрупкой с виду девицы внутри море чистой энергии, и чтобы все окончательно убрались в астрал — во второй части ритуального шабаша к ним на сцену вышел Kristof Hahn из Swans, пошаманить на своей lap steel guitar, странно что побывав на стольких фестах ни разу её не встретил, совпадение не думаю, осталось теперь создать на change.org петицию, чтобы её приглашали вообще на все фесты, начиная с Roadburn 2018 и заканчивая Primavera Sound. Если вы как обычно всё пропустили, то послушайте хотя бы альбом Ceremony (2012).

02. Fennesz & Lillevan 🇦🇹 🇩🇪
Австрийский электронщик Christian Fennesz и берлинский визуализатор (Lillevän Pobjoy - Rechenzentrum), представили зрителям программу, построенную на сэмплах из симфоний Малера — как же я люблю все эти бесконечные ambient / noise запилы, под соусом modern classical, Fennesz как обычно держит марку, послушал бы снова!

03. Maarja Nuut & Hendrik Kaljujärv 🇪🇪
Благодаря удачному стечению обстоятельств (задержке в расписании минут на 45), после Hausswolff обалдевшие зрители смогли немного прийти в себя в камерном малом зале, на выступлении эстонского дуэта, они совмещают традиционные народные мелодии, скрипку (Maarja) с электроникой (Hendrik), их я тоже впервые увидел — очень рад этому открытию, прекрасные ребята!

04. Dollkraut 🇳🇱
Их второй альбом Holy Ghost People (2017) заметили многие, хотя там свою роль сыграла и крутая обложка, но концерт показался неровным, ожидание: краут-краут, реальность: краут-пост-панк, хотя тоже норм, особенно учитывая что проект из Нидерландов, да и во второй части их фронтмэн (Pascal Pinkert) окончательно разогнался, видимо волшебный напиток на сцене возымел действие.

05. Fogh Depot 🇷🇺
Nu-jazz, electronic trio из Москвы, их выбрал для выпуска пластинки лейбл Denovali, который штампует The Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble, Dale Cooper Quartet & The Dictaphones и The Mount Fuji Doomjazz Corporation, например. FD играют электронный джаз, местами dark, с приветом Bohren und der Club of Gore, многие услышали в них и отголоски Red Snapper, мне понравилось — как вы догадались, я специально вставил сюда все эти прекрасные названия, которые невозможно ни выговорить ни запомнить, но кто видел тот поймёт.

06. Anika (Annika Henderson) 🇬🇧
Psychedelic dub и сравнения с Nico, в мрачной post-industrial эстетике, которая так или иначе никогда не теряет популярности, её дебютный post-punk / ambient dub релиз спродюсировал Geoff Barrow из Portishead, который просто искал вокалистку для своего очередного проекта Beak>, после чего Anika проснулась знаменитой — все они родом из того самого Бристоля (сейчас обитает в Берлине), в этом году была любопытная пластинка Shackleton & Anika - Behind The Glass.

07. Rosemary Loves A Blackberry 🇷🇺

Сольный проект Дианы из недооценённой группы Fanny Kaplan, пару недель назад RLAB выпустили дебютную пластинку и сняли классный клип с локальной копией Elle Fanning. По духу это довольно близко той же Anik'e, люблю эту мечтательную и местами диковатую lo-fi / synth волну: Grimes, Holter, Halo, Kedr, Zola, Phantogram, Herndon, Hval, Aurelia, Glazova, Minerva... сколько вас, когда я стану наконец директором Примаверы, всех позову, ой всё.

08. Громыка и Опера Ыть 🇷🇺
Привет из Петрозаводска, выглядят они несколько странновато, особенно огромный портрет А.Громыко вместо ковра, не знаю в чём именно прикол с АГ, но если вслушаться, то отпускает, т.к. с юмором у ребят ОК, у меня возникли ассоциации с А.Ливером / НОМ / Звуки Му, только там совсем оголтелые овертролли, а тут чуть более серьёзно, их определённо стоит увидеть!

Олдскульный психоделический венгерский рок от Vágtázó Halottkémek, название переводится как #лолшто, как вы правильно догадались, хотя многим понравилось, меня же больше заинтересовали/рассмешили особенности венгерского языка с этими напрочь непроизносимыми словами.

Немец, играет на ударных психоделический рок в одно лицо, любопытно, но на любителя.

11. Kobra SPB 🇷🇺
ethnotronica / future pop, увы, не расслушал толком, но всё же запомнил, хотя к 6 утра всё было уже как будто в тумане, тем более после всего того что произошло между нами выше и мозг перешёл в состояние «power off».
