Printed for your safety, while knocking back some soothing winter suds, the warning label on this can of Shucker's Reward - Oyster Stout contains a line not typically found on beer can warning labels, "...Warning: Made with Shellfish."

Samuel Smith Old Brewery Taddy Porter.
Typical porter - smooth and sweet, malty body. Not as strong as other porters but it was an excellent summer drink. Highly recommended.

What a great place this is, an outdoor cafe area in Mainz Germany. These spots are favorites of mine, and probably yours too,........ with a good coffee (or beer) and camera I can sit for hours and watch the world go by.
If you have the time there is a lot to see in a much larger version Here, and for a view with color, take a look below...:-))

A delicious oyster stout brewed by our local Cape Cod Beer Brewery! It even comes with a "prize inside!" Well not really inside, but on the can. Cut along the white outlines to make you very own shellfish gauge! Careful with the x-acto knife, especially after finishing off a few of these.!!

Strawberry-beer punch. The straberry are marinated in syrup for one day with ginger and lemon in it. Put some strawberreis in the glass, add some syrup too. Then add you favorite dark beer (ice cold).
President Ulysses S. Grant’s (Uly to his friends) Chocolate Oatmeal Stout is what this ale is all about!
Dark as the mines of Galena, this stout has a rich and creamy tanned head which leaves beautiful lacing in your glass as it is enjoyed. It's a full bodied ale with profound notes of chocolate and roasted malts which help to round out its flavor profile. Sweet coffee notes also linger on the palate to entice the next sip!

Wednesday, March 31, 2016, Hertfordshire, UK - Brew Day number 6 with the Grainfather. Flying solo today, and using my new 46 litre Domowybrowarek Conical Fermenter for the first time. Also decide to do a mash kit this time round - the "Extra Irish Stout" from the Homebrew Company. I spent the morning preparing the tap water, applying 0.75 ml/l of Brupaks Carbonate Reducing Solution and 0.2 ml/l of Lactic Acid. Before treatment, the pH of the water was 7.6 and afterwards it had come down to a more respectable 5.8. The acids in the dark grains brought the pH down even further and, after the mash, it was 5.4. After sparging, pre-boil pH was 5.3 and, after the boil, it was 5.2. Spot on :-) Original gravity was measured as 1.064...close to the target of 1.061. Managing the large fermenter was not easy, and I don't think I'll try it again without more helping hands in the brewery.
It was a long day. much of the day was spent getting my act together for the water treatment. I started the mash at 16h40. Sparging started at 18h05. The boil at 19h02. I had beer in the fermenter and yeast pitched at 21h00. With a break for supper and watching the final episode of "Mythbusters" with my son, I only finished the clean-up at midnight. But it was all worth it - this morning I have fermentation, and look forward to bottling in two weeks' time :-) I will be calling this dark, strong Irish Stout "Black Zoomer."
Milk Chocolate Porter with Cayenne Pepper.
This was my first trip to Nutmeg Brewhouse, I didn't stay too long because of some snow that was starting and I didn't want to get on the roads after it got too crazy out there, About an hour and a half after I left there was an accident on I-35 that involved 65 vehicles over a 3 mile stretch of road.
Getting back to the beer, I really enjoyed this one! This was a very intensely flavored beer. You couldn't taste the pepper and the beer wasn't spicy but you could feel the cayenne catching up to you at the end of the beer,

The Legendary Old Growler ....what a pedigree, what a porter.
Twice won CAMRA Winter Beer of Britain, it's many awards also include Supreme Champion at the Chicago International Beer Festival.
A complex, satisfying Porter, smooth and distinctive. Roast malt and fruit feature on the pallet and the finish is powerfully hoppy. Tantalising taste buds since 1988.

George Hunter Stout is a full-bodied American Stout with robust flavors and aromas of chocolate, coffee, molasses, and tobacco. We brewed it in honor of our founder’s great-great-grandfather, George Hunter, who owned and operated the Iron Range Brewing Co. in Tower, MN before prohibition. You could say that brewing runs in the family. Enjoy this Stout year-round, but especially during the winter months when the wind chill sets in.
