I love my dapping block!
The center "stone" is a sheet of red brass, dapped, sanded, and heated. The base is a thick sheet of fine silver I made by melting leftover PMC and then putting it through a rolling mill. The band is sterling silver.
It wasn't my intention to make it look like an old globe, but I'm glad it does! You can't tell in the pictures too well, but the heat patina really looks like terrain.
Catching up, but still a bit behind. I made these rings a few weeks ago, but I really didn't like them, so I left them sitting on my bench. Today I decided to finish them. After a pickle bath, a tumble, and some patina, I really like them!
Each band has a different texture hammered on them. One has a 6mm garnet. One has a melted ball of copper. And one has a melted and dapped disk of fine silver. The bands are all sterling silver.
This shawl is definitely a dramatic statement piece. On the bright side, I'm glad the variegation is showing up, but I feel that most of the beads save the tassels are practically invisible in this photo.
Take care of your tools, kids. Learn from my mistakes and leave the humidifier, the humidifier riiiight next to all the steel tools, alone.
At least I discovered the set can look like minions to whatever they may be near.

The Asakusa fireworks festival was held this past Saturday night. It was delayed a month later than usual, and everybody and their chihuahua came out for the festivities.
I learned something very interesting about my new little lens. It sucks for my style of street - and I'm too lazy to practice with manual focus. I found that I'd rather have my old version for the AF, increased ISO/lower IQ be damned.
But, I'm still very happy with this new version. Probably because I know there is nothing else to look forward to. Same thing with the 200mm f2.
Anyways the festival was fun. Figured I'd post this before the pics of cute girls dapped in kimonos and bokeh.

Auch in Jüterbog war der Dominikaner Johann Tetzel als Ablassprediger aufgetreten, was Martin Luther im nicht weit entfernten Wittenberg veranlasst haben soll, seine 95 Thesen zu veröffentlichen. Man führte Gespräche mit Theologiedozenten und Studenten aus Wittenberg über die reformatorischen Ideen, gegen die sich der Jüterboger Guardian und einige Lektoren der Ordenshochschule abgrenzten, weil sie um die Einheit der Kirche fürchteten. Zu Ostern 1519 kam es in Jüterbog zu einem Streit zwischen Thomas Münzer und den Franziskanern, der durch öffentliche Predigten ausgetragen wurde. Der Lektor Bernhard Dappen richtete im Namen des Konvents eine Beschwerde an den Bischof von Brandenburg, die Martin Luther zugespielt wurde, worauf dieser den Jüterboger Franziskanern mit öffentlicher Bloßstellung „ihrer wunderlichen Weisheit“ drohte. Zwar verbot der Brandenburger Bischof die Predigt gegen Luther, aber die Einstellung der Brüder in Jüterbog trug dazu bei, dass die Sächsische Franziskanerprovinz insgesamt der Reformation kritisch gegenüberstand und in den folgenden Jahrzehnten die Schließung fast aller Klöster hinnehmen musste. hand dapped, hand pierced, handmade pendant in sterling silver, 18k gold, 24k gold leaf, and vintage/antique mother of pearl button.
Inspired by the painting "Persia" by George Barbier. Art bead pendant was created by myself using brass, nickel silver and copper disks. The bottom disc is stamped with a leafy fern design, and the other discs have been hammered, dapped and patina'd. Blue and green kyanite sticks are suspended from the pendant, and faceted orange carnelian rounds give it a color punch.

Sterling silver woven almost like a spiral graph and pushed into a flower form is added to a dapped, drilled and annealed for color copper wheel, which is then cold connected to a sheet of brass that has also been dapped for just the right curve. Reclaimed, and vintage chain complete the look, fnished with a curly clasp!
