"La gloria di Colui che tutto move

per l'universo penetra e risplende

in una parte più e meno altrove."

"The glory of Him who moveth everything

Doth penetrate the universe, and shine

In one part more and in another less."

Incipit from "Dante Alighieri's Paradiso"

TRUTH

We all have our own truth

Credos that we abide by

It stops us falling into murky waters

Getting lost by the wayside

It can be difficult staying on the path

I wish I had Dante and Virgil at my side

Instead I rely on your light to guide me

Love like a burning flame inside

I knew it would not be easy

I have my own steep hills to climb

But I would do it all again if you asked me

At least I can say I have tried

This flame may die down into embers

Ready to ignite at your word

Such love can never be extinguished

Like a heart that never really dies

Can I still find my way through the forest

Navigate my way past the lies

See the truth of you in front of me

Answering all the tears that I have cried

I have been taking a little break from Flickr after my last upload of images. So consequently I am a bit behind with my usual thank you’s. So I thought I would place this up here in the meantime for you to thank you all for your support. Those of you who have got to know me and my work know how much these pieces mean to me, and the journey that led me to create them and share them here. Each poem is deeply felt and a reality to me, and can be emotionally challenging to write. I am learning that not only do I need time to create them, I also need time to rest in between them. Thank you again for all your kind words, faves and views. I would have found it difficult to keep going without you.

This image is the view towards the Altar beneath the East Window of Ripe Church, Sussex, UK, which has medieval fragments of the original stained glass set within the clear gothic window.

Dante's View is a viewpoint terrace at 1,669 m (5,476 ft) height, on the north side of Coffin Peak, along the crest of the Black Mountains, overlooking Death Valley. Dante's View is named from Dante Alighieri, who wrote the Divina Commedia (Divine Comedy), in which there are described the nine circles of Hell, the seven terraces of Purgatory and the nine spheres of Paradise. ... The group was immediately persuaded and promptly called this point Dante's View. Dante’s View is the primary overlook in Death Valley National Park because it offers premier panoramic views. Below Dante’s View is Badwater Basin, the lowest point in North America. Across the valley rises Telescope Peak, the highest in the park. Under the morning light, the views are breathtaking in every direction. It feels like cheating to be able to drive right up to such amazing views.

Hikers heading for an overlook, 5,475 feet above the floor of Death Valley. They will look down on the lowest point in North America (-262 feet).

Looking down into Dante's inferno as viscous fragments of lava, some the the size of refrigerators, are are thrown up towards the crater rim. Mt Tanna. Vanuatu.

Lo duca e io per quel cammino ascoso

intrammo a ritornar nel chiaro mondo;

e sanza cura aver d’alcun riposo,

salimmo sù, el primo e io secondo,

tanto ch’i’ vidi de le cose belle

che porta ’l ciel, per un pertugio tondo.

E quindi uscimmo a riveder le stelle.
