"La gloria di Colui che tutto move
per l'universo penetra e risplende

"The glory of Him who moveth everything
Doth penetrate the universe, and shine
In one part more and in another less."

Hey, the italian site Pot Pourri Creativo added a link (check 31/7) to my Flickr page as reference to Arte Digitale. It's a cool site, worth the visit. Thanks pacorishi
Abrasive smoke on the Third Terrace (wrath) of Purgatorio: he who, over injury received, resentful for revenge grows greedy and, angrily, seeks out another's harm (Purgatorio, Canto XVII). 7Artisans manual lens wide-open, outdoors, backlit, reflector used. Dante's View is a viewpoint terrace at 1,669 m (5,476 ft) height, on the north side of Coffin Peak, along the crest of the Black Mountains, overlooking Death Valley. Dante's View is named from Dante Alighieri, who wrote the Divina Commedia (Divine Comedy), in which there are described the nine circles of Hell, the seven terraces of Purgatory and the nine spheres of Paradise. ... The group was immediately persuaded and promptly called this point Dante's View. Dante’s View is the primary overlook in Death Valley National Park because it offers premier panoramic views. Below Dante’s View is Badwater Basin, the lowest point in North America. Across the valley rises Telescope Peak, the highest in the park. Under the morning light, the views are breathtaking in every direction. It feels like cheating to be able to drive right up to such amazing views.
Hikers heading for an overlook, 5,475 feet above the floor of Death Valley. They will look down on the lowest point in North America (-262 feet).
Looking down into Dante's inferno as viscous fragments of lava, some the the size of refrigerators, are are thrown up towards the crater rim. Mt Tanna. Vanuatu.

Looking down into Death Valley, near Badwater Basin, from Dante's View on Black Mountain. From this elevation the salt water flowing slowly through the basin can be seen, as well as a small pond. Standing at ground level none of this was visible.
The long lost ancient sea that deposited all the sediment and salt appears to be roiling again.

Death Valley, California. It was 118 degrees when I pulled into Furnace Creek, and still not at the lowest point of Death Valley. Up here I overlook Badwater, a big flat of alkali that is the drainage bowl of the mountains. Ever so often, a waft of hot air comes up from 5000 feet below me, and it doesn't feel right. I wonder if it was the fiery sunsets or the idea of an inferno in the Valley that inspired the name of this overlook. It's a severe place. What charachterizes this hard desert? Hurt, disappointment, heartache, broken dreams? It's interesting that people describe hell as being down below somewhere, when actually we carry it with us no matter the altitude. I am thinking it's gotten a bad reputaion, when another blast of hot air hits my face.
