Créé en 2017, le collectif Evolves est un groupe de danseurs basé à Arles qui utilise l’art scénique comme vecteur de communication et de développement personnel en invitant le spectateur à se remettre en question au travers de la chorégraphie. En mettant en avant la singularité de leurs propositions artistiques, les danseurs souhaitent créer des représentations urbaines, actuelles et fédératrices.
Urbaines,
car l’art des interprètes du collectif, le hip-hop, vient de la rue, à laquelle ils sont très attachés. Les danseurs souhaitent garder l'authenticité et la simplicité qu'on trouve dans la rue dans les pièces qu'ils créent.
Actuelles,
parce que les danseurs s’inspirent du quotidien pour créer leurs pièces. De plus, ils créent leurs propres bandes son avec un univers musical éclectique. Ils utilisent souvent des extraits de discours ou d’interviews qu’ils mettent en musique. Les musiques instrumentales ou les chansons d'interprètes français ou étrangers de tous styles sont aussi pour eux une grande source d'inspiration. L'objectif des danseurs est d'illustrer les propos et les émotions transmis par la musique au travers de leur gestuelle.
Fédératrices,
car le collectif fait en sorte que son art soit accessible à tous. Le but des créations est de toucher au coeur, à la sensibilité et à l’humanité du public en partageant des messages emprunts de sincérité, ce qui engendre une proximité qui rassemble des gens de tout horizon. Les interprètes cherchent à interpeller les gens par rapport à leur propre histoire en s'appuyant sur un vécu commun.

This photo montage was exhibited at a curated photography show on the theme of Musicality, the quality or state of being musical. All limited edition copies of this photo montage sold out. The image should be read left to right and it depicts a female figure in a shroud who is claiming her identity through dance (the only panel with bright colors before the exeunt panel).
The sequence deliberately consists of seven images as a pointer to the significance of the number seven in most world religions and traditions, basically representing perfection and completeness, e.g., seven days of creation, seven days of vengeance, seven pillars of wisdom, seven virtues, etc.

As a child growing up in Germany I was taken to seasonal fire festivals that take place all over Europe this time of year. At least you can still indulge in an autumnal forest walk. Perhaps you'll encounter a mythical being or two along the way.. but hopefully not wielding the sword like cinphul's wolfbane (check out the materials on the blade on zoom). The Nefekalum tattoos give an additional otherworldly air, both being materials with plenty of shine to catch the light.
