I was standing on a hill watching as this person crossed the semi frozen reservoir late in the day. The lines in the snow reminded me of the game "Snakes & Ladders".

As he meandered his way across this real life board game, his shadow revealed the time of day. And, if the "Lost in Space" robot were present, it would say, "danger Will Robinson", because many areas had not yet frozen over.

The Vliehors resembles a massive desert. The remote area at the western end of Vlieland is flat and sandy and covers a large area of the Northsea island. The area is used as a military practice area by NATO and the Royal Dutch Airforce during weekdays. Therefore it's forbidden to access the area, except for the weekend (a sign indicates when it's save to go for a walk).

This is really a shame !!
