Easter is not all bunnies and chocolate. Its a time to remember our Lord and Saviour, what he did for us on that cross. In the middle ages, churches would have collections of relics that they would periodically display for a fee. These relics would be things like the bones of saints, or the tears of the Virgin Mary in a bottle. John Calvin noted that there were enough splinters of Jesus' cross in Europe to build a whole city. There were numerous skulls of John the Baptist, and most of the apostles had multiple bodies.

But the other day, I saw that our church had an interesting relic sitting out back. Sitting in the center of the fire ring was Shadrach's chair.

Most mornings, the first thing I do is read a few passages from the Bible, using a reading planner that takes me through everything in a little over a year (and covers some portions several times). My Palm Pilot makes this convenient - I don't even have to switch on the light before I start!
