Apart from Marnie, close by. At the top of what I like to call 'Marnie's Hill' in Sutton Park, as this is the first really open place I brought her when we adopted her just over a year ago.

Perhaps this music is relevant ... you're probably too young to remember it !

Thanks so much for looking, hope you like it and you're keeping well, safe, and as sane as possible.

to be allowed to go for a walk during this troubled time. We are fortunate to be allowed to do so. Some countries have had to bring in measures to stop people from even leaving their homes except for essential things. I do feel my walks with Marnie are essential for both of us. I'm so fortunate to have this beautiful place just 3 miles away from home. And what a glorious morning it was ! No social distancing to worry about - we only saw a couple of people a fair distance away, in all the time we were out.

To all those who aren't as fortunate as I am, who perhaps can't take advantage of a walk in the sun, or exercise... or worse, are ill, we're thinking of you now.

Perhaps you'd like to dance along to this great song. (I know, showing my age) !!

How Sweet it Is - Marvin Gaye

In these times of social distancing, I'm giving you a virtual hug. Hope that's OK !

... everything ! Marnie, in full regalia, so proud of herself ! We'd only just arrived at the park, and she rolled in this smelly mess left by a fox, bless her. Needless to say, she did give off a certain aroma and had to have a shower when we got home. Hope you like her like this - she's anxious for approval and always does her best to please

😂. I love her.

Thanks everyone for your faves, comments, and just for having a look. We hope you have a happy, healthy, clean weekend !

Colchester Zoo

17th April 2023

Too much black-ice for the bike yesterday, so went on walkabout to burn a few calories. I couldn't resist stopping for this iPhone shot down one of our local lanes. Note the traditional woven fence at right - some fine country craftsmanship there.

Not saying it's been a slow start, but this is my opener for 2021.

9th January 2021

Decided to make an exercise bike for the birds this week with a snack basket on the front. Taken through the window.

Many thanks to all who take the time to view, comment or fave my images.

A light hearted look at my walk with Marnie this morning. No man made road blocks (yet) to stop us taking our daily exercise, but these bullocks certainly impeded our progress down this path, at least. They do have that habit of staring at you, don't they? We chose another path back home.

Processed in Topaz Studio with a beautiful texture from Lenabem-Anna - in this case, a double dose. Thanks Anna !

As always, thanks very much for taking a look and for your encouragement. I do hope you're all well and as happy as can be expected in these trying times.

{I would like to thank everyone who helped this picture reach Explore on 8th April 2020. It's always a bit of a thrill - especially now !]

It’s at this difficult time that I’m so grateful to have woodland so close to home. Spring is definitely here and it’s beautiful.

Thanks for viewing 💕

Approaching Wendover, this is the view across the valley towards Wendover Woods, the highest point in the Chilterns.

The workings in the middle of the photo are for HS2, there will be a massive bridge over the town.

HS2 is a white elephant that never made any economic or environmental sense, especially in the aftermath of this pandemic where new ways of working, and video conferencing will make the regular commute a thing of the past. And the estimated £105bn cost will go some way to help paying for the costs of this pandemic

Two foot lower than yesterday apparently. Won't be taking my exercise here again. It was like the middle of summer.

Handheld. 1/4 sec. Gotta love IBIS.

I am very happy that this intentional camera movement image of mine has been published in the latest 'FLIP' magazine by London Independent Photography, published December 2020.

This church, in Heptonstall, West Yorkshire, England, was built between 1250 and 1256. It fell into disrepair in the 1850s when the face of a part of its tower fell away.

The new church was built in its graveyard.

A substantial part of this ruined building stands today. My intentional camera movement photo was taken in January 2021.

The famous poet Ted Hughes wrote the following poem about this church.

'Heptonstall Old Church by Ted Hughes

A great bird landed here.

Its song drew men out of rock,

Living men out of bog and heather.

Its song put a light in the valleys

And harness on the long moors.

Its song brought a crystal from space

And set it in men's heads.

Then the bird died.

Its giant bones

Blackened and became a mystery.

The crystal in men's heads

Blackened and fell to pieces.

The valleys went out.

The moorland broke loose.'

The grave of 'King David Hartley', the leader of the 18th Century Cragg Vale Coiners who produced counterfeit coins to support their local impoverished community, is in this graveyard. Even today coins are left on his gravestone by passers by.

Last Friday, I did a longer walk, still starting from home. On the first stretch I spotted some sunlight on these bluebells near to the main path through Captains Wood.

“The river moves, but it follows a path. When it tires of one journey, it rubs through some rock to forge a new way. Hard work, but that's its nature.” - Kekla Magoon

Came across this beautiful setting on a walk between Dedham in Essex & Flatford in Suffolk.

May 14, and lockdown restrictions were eased. For the firs time in almost two months I drove to do a walk, this one along the Chiltern Escarpment at Cowleaze Wood, near Christmas Common

The large tower seems out of proportion to the tiny nave.. The twin gabled roof was added later. The tower once had eight bells but serval of them were lost to nearby Hambleden as a result of a card game between the two vicars.
