I rarely take my bike cross country, it is a great commuter bike, but every now and again I like to challenge both the bike and myself to see just how far off the beaten track we can get. here I got to the foot of Bouldsworth hill in Lancashire looking over the valley to the more famous Pendle hill.

The other day I went out to the first cyclocross race of the season in my city to take photos. It was an enjoyable time.

I was fascinated that some of the riders racing today had helper who cleaned their bikes for them, DURING THE RACE! Riders would swap bikes as they passed the pits and their helper would fire up the petrol powered jetwash...

59cm Davidson Cyclocross frame & fork that was previously raced by Dale Knapp who took Bronze in the 1994 United States National Cyclocross Championships in Seattle, WA (presumably on this bike). Now retired and serving as my around town CX bike. You never know when a trip to the market or the pub might involve a little dirt.
Any guesses? Hard to tell with all the mud.
