Kirby
My family has always had dogs and I am through and through a dog person. I dont hate cats like a lot of people do but prefer dogs 100%. Since my family is all about bird hunting, we have always had bird dogs. We've had Vizslas, Weimaraners, and a lot of German Shorthairs. When I was about 14 we got our 1st small dog, a pug named Dudley. I wasn't a huge fan of small dogs but for some reason I've always loved bulldogs and pugs. Their faces are the best!
4 years ago at the age of 8, Dudley lost like 90 percent of his hearing. One day he was sleeping in the driveway and my dad accidentally backed over him. Such a sad day! My dad said telling my mom he had killed Dudley was one of the most difficult things of his entire life. To cheer up my mom he replaced Dudley with this little guy. My mom named him Kirby! His looks are very similar to Dudley but they have totally different personalties. Kirby is hilarious! He's lazy, and extremely fat. Getting a running photo of him was super difficult because every time he'd start running he'd go sit down or run back to the house and sit on the porch. The top left photo is his sixth time running back to the porch after I would carry him out into the field to photograph him. The top right is after he ran around a few times. Such a lazy fat dog, but I love him!

I've had less than enough time lately to take photos as much as I'd like. I finally got a chance to try and shoot our new puppy Lily... I apologize for the lack of sharpness, my macro is old-school and doesn't have autofocus and this little girl is fidgety! until she learns sit I'm going to have to work with the couple of lucky shots that were as close to sharp as I could get. enjoy!

The first dog design I ever did years ago was a pug. I was never quite happy with that design, so this year when I decided to work on other animals again..a fawn pug was the first thing I wanted to paint-or..repaint lol.

As I've switched to using my camera exclusively in manual mode, I thought I was test myself with a scene with a HUGE tonal range. What better than a shot of a subject inside a house against a sliding glass door to the sunny outside. My goal was to correctly expose the subject and intentionally blow out the background. I know this doesn't sound like the hardest challenge but since I'm newer to all manual, it was a fun test.
It helps that I have a super handsome model though. The pug gladly sat there while I temped him with cookie after cookie.
Lightroom used for minor tweaks (I did add a TINY bit of fill light to his face as pugs have the "robbers mask" that is hard to expose for).
*Side Note - I LOVE how the cat is giving Stanley (AKA The Pug) the evil eye. Don't fret though, I got some pictures of her too that will probably make it to Flickr.

Goods Family
Joe and Natalie are some of my most favorite people in the world! I shot their wedding like FOREVER ago and their child/pug Bentley is like my Godson... Being a pug lover I've been excited to shoot with them and even though I shot photos of my pug Kirby back in April www.flickr.com/photos/todaymightbe/5642057386/in/set-7215... have been extra excited to photograph this little dude. Originally the plan was to do something "top secret" which I think may still yet come to pass, but because of how nice the day was, had to try to get some lensflare shots. I was really excited to shoot today with them because I'm actually leaving for Australia in less than 12 hours. Lots to do before I go, so its time to stop writing...
