Fender Stratocaster...

When it is too cold outside and winter has turned everything in sight to a dull grey and sullen skies hang heavy overhead.

I have to find things inside to photograph; today i decided to take photos of my guitars, this white beauty is the american made Eric Clapton Signature Series. a lovely instrument crafted to the highest musical standards exactly the same as the one custom built for Eric himself. down to the last detail.

Thank you for visiting for marking my photo as a favourite and for the kind comments,

I got a chance to revisit one of my favorite covered bridge, the Gilpin's Falls in Maryland. While I was there I did some goofing around with the iPhone panorama function, the some lenses built for the iPhone. During the rest of my vacation this turned into a little project. You can see more as well and my review of the lenses.

More guitar pics, this is my Gibson Les Paul '59 VOS reissue, aka "R9". The finish is called "sunrise teaburst", and is intended to resemble the natural fading of the original cherry-burst guitars from 1959. Over time, the red stain gave way to shades or yellow, green, or brown. The metal parts(nickel plated) are lightly aged per Gibson Custom Shop's vintage original spec (VOS) process.

Pickups are by Seymour Duncan.

Lens is the FA150/2.8 on the 645Z. Single strobe using Priolite MX300.

One of 4 custom guitars, each made for The Stones. Mick, Ron and Charlie have theirs. Each guitar has the name inlaid into the neck. This is the only one of the four which is in a private collection, although Keith Richards has the right to request it be returned whenever he wishes. This image obviously received significant post-processing. Signed limited edition prints available - dye sublimated to aluminum.

About Me | Selected Prints

This is my niece Summer. She visited for Easter and was nice enough to let me take some pictures and test out my new beauty dish. We did some close-ups and then decided that it would be fun for her to pose with some of my music equipment.

Strobist info: Nikon D700, SB-600 through 22" beauty dish camera right and SB-600 through 24"x24" softbox camera left. 50mm lens (I had to switch to this because I couldn't get a full shot with any of my longer lenses -- too little space in my basement).

Guitar Info: Fender Custom Shop Wildwood "10" 1961 Stratocaster. Fender Vibroverb (clone) amp (I made this from a 1968 Fender Super Reverb chassis and a custom cabinet).

Lincoln, New Hampshire

This bridge was originally built in 1904 across the Winooski River in Vermont. In 1960 the line was no longer used and in 1965 it reopen on the grounds of Clark's Trading Post, The tourist steam train has run over it ever since. As far as I can tell this is the only wooden railroad covered bridge still in use.

Chesterfield, New Hampshire, USA

Madame Sherri was a somewhat eccentric character. Born in Paris, she worked for the Zigfield Follies in the 1920's and built a beautiful castle home in Chesterfield in the 1930's. She was known for her wild parties.

The great home was destroyed by fire in 1962. The stonework has stood an additional 50 years.

The Nissitissit is a footbridge over the river of the same name. It has a pretty unique history. Half the bridge was actually the entrance to a store called Covered Bridge Needlecraft in my hometown of Nashua, NH. When the store closed in 2002, the bridge was donated to the neighboring twon of Brookline. They expanded the bridge to it's current length of 110 feet.

Sometimes you just get lucky. I visited 6 covered bridges this day, including all three in Delaware. I just happened to be walking across the bridge when this gentleman drove this old beauty across.

This is the Smith covered bridge, which was rebuilt in 2002. The original was built in 1839, but destroyed by in 1961.

I don't know the year of the Buick, but if any car experts could leave a comment, I'd love to know.

Sergeantsville, New Jersey, USA

The little monument beside the bridge sums up it's story very well:

This is the last public covered bridge in New Jersey. It was erected in 1872 on abutments dating back to colonial times. Damaged in 1960, the superstructure of this bridge was completely dismantled and removed to make way for a conventional span. However in 1961, as a results of the efforts of an aroused group of citizens, the state of New Jersey, using materials of the original covered bridge, fully restored this link this the past.

This bridge was built in 1870 to replace a bridge that was destroyed in the Spring floods of the year before.

In the 1950's many of the town residents kept their mailboxes inside the bridge. The story goes that even the Postal workers had trouble finding some of the local addresses.

Barracca Gardens, Valletta, Malta

I caught the sunrise at the Malta Siege Bell and Barracca Gardens in Valletta. The gardens were created in 1661 by Italian Knight Flaminio Barbiani.

The bell and tower were installed in 1992 as a memorial to the 7000 people killed in the siege of World War II. From 1940 to 1943 Malta was besieged and bombed by Germany and Italy. The bombing is said to have been worse than the Blitz of Britain.

This bridge was built 125 years ago. It's named for a local farmer, Dallas Montgomery. Since the road is also named Montgomery, I'm guessing his family has been in this location for many years.
