"THINK BIG’ SHOWCASE EVENT "

YOUNG PEOPLE FROM AROUND THE COUNTRY DISPLAY PROJECTS CREATED TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE TO YOUNG PEOPLE’S MENTAL HEALTH..Picture shows GAA player Donal Og Cusack pic with Tony Bates,Founder,Headstrong.Saturday 16th April 2011: Young people from all over the country showcased projects that they have created to help make a difference to young people’s mental health. Over twenty projects were on display and all of them have been made possible through the Think Big programme. Think Big is a programme designed by O2 and Headstrong that enables young people to do projects in their community that will help make a difference to young people’s mental health.The showcase event, took place at O2 Head Office and also featured a range of workshops, including: Samba Drumming, Creative Painting as well as talks by GAA player Donal Óg Cusack and Tony Bates from Headstrong.The showcase event was followed by the ‘Think Big Gig’ which featured The Flaws, Bipolar Empire, Jamie Lawson, The Shoos and Royseven. All bands performed for free.

O2 and Headstrong, the National Centre For Youth Mental Health,launched a social campaign that will see O2 donate €200,000 to support youth mental health. Entitled ‘Share a Happy Thought’ and part of the wider Think Big programme, the campaign is calling on members of the public to share a happy thought on o2thinkbig.ie, Twitter or Facebook and O2 will donate €1 to Think Big for every happy thought shared*.
