I LOVED this HUGE table set up for the bridal party. It must have set 50 people and thought it made such a grand, elegant centerpiece for the room!

Reminds me of that naff bit in Say Anything where John Cusack serenades Ione Skye with a ghetto blaster above his head playing Peter Gabriel's "In Your Eyes"! So there.

View Larger This a stitch of two shots i took from where a demolished Hogan Stand once stood.
The cusack Stand had been fully completed(1996) The Canal end(Davin Stand) was well on its way to completion.
This part of the project was the most complex as it involved working over the railway and culverting the Royal Canal over a distance of 140 metres.
Work on the new Hogan Stand began a few weeks after this picture was taken.

A great and beloved New England auto racing icon has died.
Ralph Cusack has passed at age 87. He was an early star at Beech Ridge Speedway, and became a twelve-time champion. His first championship was earned in 1953, the last in 1980. He won championships driving underpowered coupes with flathead engines all the way up to insanely powerful supermodifieds.
He purchased the track from Cowboy Cal Reynolds in 1981, the year after he won his final driving championship, and sold it to his sons who have run the track ever since.
Much more than a track owner, Ralph was a strong family man who
with his wife Jane raised two fine sons. He was a man people admired and looked up to.
Ralph was inducted into the NEAR Hall of Fame in 2001. In addition to his driving championships, he received many awards for his operation of the track. He regularly attended racing at Beech Ridge well into his mid-80s.
