This photo of Paterson's Curse was taken in the Flinders Ranges National Park in South Australia.
It is a weed that reduces pasture productivity and is toxic to livestock as it causes reduced weight and, in severe cases, death due to liver damage.
It can also kill horses and irritate the udders of dairy cows and the skin of humans.
It is native to western, southern and southwest Europe and has been introduced into Australia, South Africa and the US.
In Australia it is known as Paterson's Curse and is supposedly named after the Paterson family of Cumberoona, New South Wales, who planted it in their garden in the 1880s.
It is also known as Salvation Jane, Blueweed, Lady Campbell weed and Riverina Bluebell.

This canopic jar is the baboon (Hapy), Like the Dybbuk box, maybe should not have been opened. Or, maybe, he was a smoker....
From the ancient Egyptian funerary practice comes the canopic jars. One of the strangest sights I've ever seen yesterday, but also one of most encouraging. This is The Severn Sins, which had beached so it could pick up. a lost container ( one of eleven that broke free) that washed up on the beach last weekend. I imagined I could help it relaunch :))) I haven't got. a song called Severn Sins, so Seven Curses by Tom Russel is as close as I can get.

Another of the Couas. This magpie-sized bird is considerably smaller than the Giant Coua (previously posted), which it replaces in the spiny forest, however it is similar in appearance and behaviour, being essentially ground dwelling, albeit rather more cooperative.
This is me salvaging time/expenses. A few minutes earlier I was on this road expecting the sun to set directly over the road. From shots taken in earlier years I had roughly calculated this event thinking the axis motion was a constant progression. It is not; then recalling there are other forces at play.

When I first noticed the cargo ship on the horizon, my first thought was a very negative word that I will not share here. I assumed I would have to shoot the orca at play around it and crop the ship out later. Little did I know that the ships timing would prove to be a huge blessing.
As it passed, it created huge waves that several members of the pod (6-8 orca if I remember correctly) decided to surf. This was out second excursion out to photograph whales near Vancouver BC. The surfing whales provided the best memory and photo opportunity from both trips combined…a blessing!
