"New York, concrete jungle where dreams are made of
There's nothing you can't do
Now you're in New York
These streets will make you feel brand new
Big lights will inspire you
Hear it for New York, New York, New York
On the avenue, there ain't never a curfew
Ladies work so hard
Such a melting pot on the corner selling rock
Preachers pray to God
Hail a gypsy cab
Takes me down from Harlem to the Brooklyn Bridge
Someone sleeps tonight with a hunger
For more than from an empty fridge"

Hello my amazing Flickr friends !
Today is a yellow day at Color my World Daily and it is time for another old book picture. I must admit that last year I was more organized and had several pictures in my archives… This year, I’m falling back on my picture taking so I have to do « emergency » photoshoots during the evening. Luckily (that is irony !!), we still have a curfew so there is nothing else to do but stay home and take some pictures ;-).
I hope you will like this one. I’m looking forward to summer and reading books in my backyard (which I never do lol but who knows maybe this summer will be a book reading in the backyard summer …).
Have a happy yellow day! See you later my friends !
Thank you so much for all your lovely comments / favs/ general support / happy thoughts!! Stay safe and well!! And see you soon on Flickr !!

Hello my amazing Flickr friends !
Today is a green day at Color my World Daily and since green is a color of hope lets celebrate that.
After our new lockdown measures announcement, the only thing I wanted to do was leaving on the first space ship available, no matter what planet for.
After calming down, I took this picture to depict my state of mind and reduce my stress level. Lets just hope things will get better soon… and now we have a curfew for the next 4 weeks, something new and exciting (can you hear the irony in my voice ??) !
So who is coming with me, exploring another planet ?
Have an amazing day my friends and see you later !! I need a gin and tonic…
Thank you so much for all your lovely comments / favs/ general support / happy thoughts!! Stay safe and well!! And see you soon on Flickr !!
Hello my amazing Flickr friends !
Today is a pink or purple day at Color my World Daily and at Smile on Saturday the theme is: spinning around.
Capturing the movement or a motion blur is always tricky for me. I tried do find something round (or almost) and spinning… I had several ideas but then it hit me (another alcohol induced vision but also it was Earth Day yesterday) : Earth ! Earth is round (or almost) and it is spinning around constantly… And then I had another vision, this one was induced by my work as a geographer, why not using one of my globes ? Yes, I collect (among many, many others things) globes, it is a geographer hoarder thing… The terrestrial globe in this picture, is one of my smallest one and has no monetary value. It is a cheap decorative terrestrial globe but it turns very well which is great for this picture. And then imagine flying very slowly around a spinning terrestrial globe in a red rocket. Watching the Earth from above and wondering if the pandemic is over yet or no ? Is it safe to land or should we wait some more before getting out of our tiny red rocket ? I think I will wait few more turns …at least until there is no more curfew !
Mucho, mucho amor for you all !! See you later my friends and have an amazing day !!
Thank you so much for all your lovely comments / favs/ general support / happy thoughts!! Stay safe and well!! And see you soon on Flickr !!
Amateur de coucher de soleil, avec le couvre-feu et pendant le confinement revoir ses anciennes photos numériques (des millers) est agréable mais j'attends avec impatience la fin du couvre-feu !!!
Lover of the sunset with the curfew and during confinement to review his old digital photos (thousands) was pleasant, the end of the curfew !!!
Hello my amazing Flickr friends !
Today is a yellow day at Color my world Daily and we have a yellow picture for this occasion. It is a picture of my tiny yellow duck on a levitating egg. I hope you will like it !
Today, we have a very depressing mood since they will announce more restrictions due to Covid19. Everyone is assuming that our Christmas gatherings with family are doomed… I hate the fact that last week, everyone was ecstatic since we had a permission to have 20 persons on Christmas ! Then, few day after the great news, they reduced the number of people allowed to ten … Right now, the situation isn’t very good so I’m assuming they will not allowed any visitors on Christmas and the curfew will be back…
I hate it so much, when they change their minds on such a short notice. I would prefer to have it the other way: tell us there is no gatherings and if the situation is good few days before just give the people a good news and let them see their families. For now, I’m feeling like this yellow duck: floating away on my planet and not thinking about Covid19 and restrictions…
Have beautiful day my friends ! Mucho, mucho amor for you all !!
Shortly (next week), I will take few days off from Flickr my friends ! I want to spend some time with my family, so I will not have time to take pictures. But dont you worry, I will be back in 2022 for sure !
Thank you so much for all your lovely comments / favs/ general support / happy thoughts!! Stay safe and well!
We still have lockdowns and daily curfews due to covid, but at least a bit more freedom during weekdays...full lockdowns except for food shopping at weekends still. Managed to get out to a few local spots this week...a much needed tonic of woodlands, running water, birds, and a cool summer breeze on the hillsides. Later in summer won't be so cooling...
Typically, now that I've had the taste again...I am counting days until we can go on another mini(or long) adventure.
Mid morning June sun may not be ideal...but who cares!
Hello my amazing Flickr friends !
Today is a pink or purple day at Color my World Daily and the theme at Smile on Saturday is nothing in focus.
If you have a blurry vison and nothing is in focus anymore, maybe love is making you blind !!! Please check your love life and maybe you will discover that you are madly in love (which is an awesome news… usually…) !
However, if you see that this picture is blurry, please don’t run to your optician yet. The blur in this picture was made on purpose…I repeat this is an artistic blur !! No need to change your glasses… but if you are madly in love consider buying a ring instead ;-).
Mucho, mucho amor for you all !! See you later, I have my first « legit » garden party with my parents !! No curfew, courtesy of our provincial gouvernement !!
Thank you so much for all your lovely comments / favs/ general support / happy thoughts!! Stay safe and well!! And see you soon on Flickr !!

I miss to walk down the beach, the sand under my feet and the sun caressing my face. I miss the colors of the sea and the music of the waves against the rocks.
I hope for a calm and peaceful world, when everybody can leave in freedom, equality, safety and unity not matter the color of the skin.
Curfew now en several cities of California including mine because of the violence and looting of the last days regarding the Murder of George Floyd.
Mandalay State Beach is a protected area of beach, dunes, and wetlands between a power generation plant and the Oxnard Shores neighborhood of Oxnard, CA. This is a popular place for birding. Some of the beach is fenced off to protect nesting areas of the Least Tern and Snowy Plover. Mandalay State Beach is on state park property, but is managed by Ventura County so it is called Mandalay Beach County Park too. You can get here by driving north on Harbor Boulevard to 5th Street and turning toward the ocean.

It has either been to wet and windy or cold and windy. Right now we are at 35 degrees with a very strong wind. Drove by the area on the way to the store, now everything is down. Very little left standing with leaves ( the Oaks ) and leaves are blowing around in the wind. To chilly to be wondering around, feels like High 20s out. Sun is out so that is a plus. On the down side our illustrious Governor has imposed a curfew starting today at 2200 hours. Everybody has to home by 2200 or we get sent to our bedrooms with no beer or TV.

Delicate Arch composite, Arches National park.
I found the hike to Delicate Arch surprisingly difficult. After climbing over fairly steep slickrock, one must also navigate a narrow ledge with no railings. A stumble can be fatal. I worried that my shoestrings might come untied. Afraid of heights as I am, I clung to the mountain side as I walked the final steps to the view. Subsequent research confirms that people have been seriously wounded or died from falls at this arch.

This one was mixed in with a group (also called a “curfew,” “salon”or “skein”) of Long-billed Curlews. Kind of tricky to differentiate from a distance. I find it fun to discover collective nouns for various birds and how they differ from one another. An assemblage of Whimbrels is known as a “fling,” “bind,” “time-step,” or “contradiction.”

Going back to my archives and god knows I have too much ... I found a series of flight shot of that superb roket fast Northern Hawk Owl. The sky was really very gray and the light rare.
Since there is a curfew because of COVID and it will probably be impossible for me to take pictures anywhere other than at home and in my immediate area and I never find the time to present all my picture, I will be presenting older shot that I think are worthy of sharing.
After playing hide and seek for a long time in the reeds, this grebe finally decided to come into the open, for a very brief moment. (of course when I had to leave so as not to overflow into the hours of curfew ...)
I was happy to see him again with his chick, last week his nest was squatted by 2 turtles who took advantage of the sun and I had fears for the survival of the little one.
You know you are older when a curfew is declared from 23 to 6 and that does not affect your life at all.
St Mary-le-Bow is an historic church rebuilt after the Great Fire of 1666 by Sir Christopher Wren in the City of London on the main east–west thoroughfare, Cheapside.
Archaeological evidence indicates that a church existed on this site in Saxon times. A medieval version of the church had been destroyed by the London Tornado of 1091, one of the earliest recorded (and one of the most violent) tornadoes in Britain, although the newly completed arched crypt survived. During the later Norman period the church, known as “St Mary de Arcubus”,was rebuilt and was famed for the arches (“bows”) of stone. At that period the 12 feet 6 inches (3.8 m) high vaulted crypt—although only accessible from within the church—had windows and buttresses visible from the street. However, the anecdotalist and historian John Stow wrongly attributes the name to 1515–16, when a crown steeple made of Caen stone in the form of arches supporting a lantern, was completed. This erroneous explanation for the source of the name gained some traction in the centuries to follow, including an endorsement by Palace of Westminster architect Augustus Pugin.
From at least the 13th century, the church was a peculier of the Diocese of Canterbury and the seat of the Anglican ecclesiastical court, the Court of Arches, to which it gave the name. The “bow bells”, which could be heard as far away as Hackney Marshes, were once used to order a curfew in the City of London. This building burned in the Great Fire of London of 1666 (whereupon the Court of Arches transferred sittings to the nearby Doctors' Commons)
