The old water tower in Düsseldorf-Heerdt was built in 1892 in the "castle style" and shows elements of late historicist Wilhelminian splendor architecture. It is a listed building and is today surrounded by a modern industrial hall. ---

A tranquil morning scene on the streets of Saint Louis, Senegal, where colorful laundry hangs to dry while a sheep stands nearby. The vibrant clotheslines stretching across the rustic buildings add a splash of color to the earthy tones of the surroundings. This charming glimpse into daily life captures the simple yet vibrant lifestyle of the local community.

You probably have come across this term. Wikipedia would give you a variety of definitions and explanations. From the perspective of the UK and, important to clarify, from my own point of view, I would say that what is being talked about is a struggle for power over public opinion and the control of the media. Political interest groups use "hot-button" issues (racism, gender roles, Brexit, immigration, the interpretation of colonial history etc.) as a technique to polarise society and distinguish between "us" and "them". This is not a debate in the interest of truth. It is all about bullying and pushing certain agendas through. In other words, culture wars have intentional consequences. When a public TV channel with critical news reporting is being "privatised" or when the public BBC is threatened with a redrafting of its charter, you know that very likely culture wars are involved. It is a sole settlement outside of Isreal where mountain Jews live together . There were 13 synagogues at the time. Now there are 2 of them.

Koizumu Yagumo (小泉八雲) is a pseudonym of Patric Lafcadio Hearn (1850-1904) who was born in Lafcada island, Greece to an Irish father and a greek mother. He emigrated to the USA and worked as journalist. He came to Japan as correspondent, visited Matsue, had a Japanese wife from a Samurai family in Matsue, and lived in this Samurai house. Koizumi is the family name of his wife. Yagumo means Izumo province.

He cancelled the correspondent contract, worked as writer and English lecturer, naturalised to Japan and died in Tokyo.

He was a pioneer Japanologist who developed a deep understanding of Japanese cultures. His best known work is "Kwaidan (怪談 spooky stories)" which is a collection of Japanese folk tales on ghosts and spectres.

His former residence is now converted to a museum for his achievements.

The construction, started in 1906, was partly built on the old ruins of the mediaeval Royal Court of Moldavia (1434), and partly on top of the foundations of the former neoclassical style palace, dated to the time of Prince Alexandru Moruzi, rebuilt by Prince Mihail Sturdza and demolished in 1904. It was from this latter building that the Palace inherited the legend of the 365 rooms, as many as the days within one year. - Wikipedia

Jim Cuddy is not really jazz musician. He is however very popular Canadian singer and songwriter. His band Blue Rodeo has many fans and he has many friends in the musical community. His surprise show at the 'Supermarket' was quickly sold out. Usually he plays bigger venues, but his performance was more or less favour to Kensington Jazz and it was short subway ride from his home. Anne Lindsey was on violin and Mike Boguski on piano. This year the Kensington Jazz Festival is scheduled to be on-line. Hope it still can change till October.
