I went to a park this morning to visit some of my feathered friends, the geese and ducks at the ponds there, but the first animal I ran into had fur. I heard the donkey before I could see him but he stopped screaming when I arrived at his pasture and gave him a good scratch. It wasn't easy to get a photo of him as he rather wanted me to continue scratching him instead of taking photos.

Romalea microptera, known commonly as the eastern lubber grasshopper or just lubber grasshopper, is a grasshopper native to the southeastern and south central portion of the United States. It is the most distinctive grasshopper species within the southeastern United States, and is well known both for its size and its unique coloration. It can reach nearly 3 inches in size. Most all baby creatures are sweet.... and ducklings are no exception. Here are two I photographed while they sunned themselves on a rock. I love the shadows of their bill and head.

I got to witness a lot of polar bear cuddles while in Churchill because of the extreme cold weather. Here mama bear picked a pine tree area to block them from the wind chill. You could here me saying Awww a lot during these cuddle times :-)!
