On the CTA's 75th birthday, a 4000 series train glides into the Washington & Wells station. A great day to celebrate the CTA!
CTA's freight train with coal hoppers from Lill Coal, located along the north side mainline. The train is on the gauntlet track (which provided extra clearance to the electrified third rail for the freight cars), using the overhead wire for power.

They used to be "the green limousines"...then they advanced to these Flexible CTA buses. I really enjoy the buses with the exhaust pipes on the roof. I despise those that have exhaust in the bottom rear. Do you remember the accordion green limousines? With turns I always thought they would tip over. =)

CTA Baldwin-Westinghouse locomotives S-104, S-105 rest at Skokie Shop after being retired from freight duties and being repainted in November 1973. They continued to work at Skokie Shop until sold to Toledo Edison in 1978.
CTA has wrapped four cars of the 5000 series in a retro scheme from the 1950's. Mercury Green, Croydon Cream and Swamp Holly Orange were familiar on the rapid transit for years. This project was sponsored my the Museum of Science and Industry in recognition of CTA's 75th Anniversary. Here the train is northbound at Armitage on the Red Line.
