SO…. I got to thinking about mythical things and all that I thought this Bigfoot would surely have to be the world’s most hunted beings. People come afar to track to get to a glimpse of BF. Bigfoot, also commonly referred to as Sasquatch, is a purported ape-like creature said to inhabit the forests of North America. Many dubious articles have been offered in attempts to prove the existence of Bigfoot, including anecdotal claims of visual observations as well as alleged video and audio recordings, photographs, and casts of large footprints.[2] Some are known or admitted hoaxes.[3] Tales of wild, hairy humanoids exist throughout the world,[4] and such creatures appear in the folklore of North America,[5] including the mythologies of indigenous people.[6][7] Bigfoot is an icon within the fringe subculture of cryptozoology,[8] and an enduring element of popular culture.[9] ALL INFO IS COURTESY Wikipedia.

"Our lives are defined by opportunities; even the ones we miss." - Eric Roth

While setting up this shot several people stopped to watch what I was doing which I guess is to be expected when doing toy photography in a crowded National Park. There was a time when that kind of attention made me anxious , feeling like I’m the weird guy taking pictures of toys in public. But now when I see someone watching, I’ll ask them, “You wanna see what the shot looks like?” They almost always say yes and so I show them the back of the camera. It has led to some great conversations and even a few new followers.

Unfortunately I was too focused on setting up the shot today and dealing with wind gusts that I didn’t interact as much with the people who were curious about what I was doing.

Perhaps being hyper focused on taking a photo about “missed opportunities” was a missed opportunity in and of itself.

At 5 am in the morning on Saint Patricks day on a Sunday from the murky black sedge of the water at night in Scotland nearby what is Uraquart castle something rises its neck out of the water and plunges down back into the water and swims deep into the blackness beneath the water surface.

I couldn’t pass up this pocket journal set when I saw it. Bigfoot is real….. awesome!

While I don’t necessarily believe that Bigfoot is real (although I also recognize that anything is possible), I do believe in pursuing what makes you feel alive and happy. For me, that includes both large and small things from long, adventurous road trips to tiny delights like these notebooks. Life shouldn’t make you feel dead inside. Chase your joy!

Or is it more of a moth-woman? I'll let the cryptozoologists debate the specific creature here.

The Alpine Lodge was torn down in 2023, so I'm not sure if this was relocated.

Himalayan brown bears exhibit sexual dimorphism. Males range from 1.5m up to 2.2m (5 ft - 7 ft 3in) long, while females are 1.37m to 1.83m (4 ft 6 in - 6 ft) long. They are the largest animals in the Himalayas and are usually sandy or reddish-brown in colour.

"Dzu-Teh," a Nepalese term, has also been associated with the legend of the Yeti, or Abominable Snowman, with which it has been sometimes confused or mistaken. During the Daily Mail Abominable Snowman Expedition of 1954, Tom Stobart encountered a "Dzu-Teh". This is recounted by Ralph Izzard, the Daily Mail correspondent on the expedition, in his book The Abominable Snowman Adventure. The report was also printed in the Daily Mail expedition dispatches on May 7, 1954 . However Tom Stobart was not a native of the region and his identification was merely based on a presumption that he knew an animal that he had never seen before from very ambiguous evidence. Native Tibetans deny that Dzu-Teh refers to any kind of a bear (It means "Cattle raider") and the name is used in areas where bears are not found. George Eberhart in MYSTERIOUS CREATURES, A Guide to Cryptozoology, Clio Books 2002, articles Dzu-Teh p. 151 and Dre-Mo p. 148-149, says that the problem is the result of conflating the Dzu-Teh with a different creature known as the Dre-Mo, and that one definitely is a bear. Eberhart says under the article Dzu-Teh that "there is considerable doubt that the locals made any such claim." (ibid, p. 152)

What museum of cryptozoology would be complete without Bigfoot?

Two Berlin photographers/artists/gallerists inviting three international guests from cyberspace: as the title suggests, an associative collection of freshly combined, mostly handmade works, focussing on original photography, at this cozy little place in an up-and-coming “Moabit art mile”.

BLACK NAPKIN from Italy, a poetic artist and archeologist, shows NOTHING PERSONAL: “The world is full of images, virtual images. We see more images per day than our grandmothers saw throughout their lives.” He tries to reflect on the value and selection of images and words.

CORINNE GLAZIOU, a dancer / photographer / medical biologist from France, offers CRYPTOZOOLOGY: “Collages and assemblages allow me to evolve with unlimited freedom in a space like a dancer on a little scene, playing with different energies”.

TATI S. TITCH, a young, universal, instant and streetart producer: “What really disturbs me: shifts of priorities in people’s minds. We have stopped looking up at the stars, too concentrated on entertainment and consuming.” So her series KOSMOS is about space as an alternative.

GRITTA ROESING’s installation FIREWALLS OF HUMAN RIGHTS contains hand-written articles of the UN declaration of the human rights on oversized B/W shots of demolished houses along the former Berlin Wall – “a vivid memorial”.

BLANCA.art creates her own flood of imagery in MOCK MURALS, loose clusters of her color pictures and drawings – opposed by I GOT YOU, an old, bandaged album filled with “rough and tough collages from an earlier stAge”.

My Entry for Bio-Cup 2020, Round One, Theme: Cryptozoology

I wanted to something a little different and fun for this theme, and then I came across Saxsquatch on Youtube and knew I had my inspiration. I'm mildly pleased with how he turned out.

Image of unknown provenance reportedly from the Colmore Collection. It would appear to be a preserved specimen of some sort but that is by no means a certainty. It was claimed by a prior owner of a museum oddities to be a photograph of a preserved Vampyre slain during a metamorphic transition. The contrary evidence that it came from the Colmore Collection suggests that it might be a creature of Faery. If that is the case, the 19th Century clothing is unlike anything I have seen in the images I have examined thus far.

We made a stop here mainly to laugh, but came out with an appreciation of the culture that persists in believing that such things are still alive.

Candy: "What animal is this?"

Sunny: "It's an eagle! Look at the talons!"

Bones: "No, it's a horse! look at the hooves!"

Baron von Munchy: "No, it's a lion! Look at the tail!"

Borgy: "Does it eat Domos?"

All Domos: "NOOOOOO! HALP! RUNNNNNNN!"

And by We’re Here!, where the theme today is cryptozoology. That sent me over to the building and yard supply place out on Highway 29, which is graced by a huge metal sculpture which I snapped with my mobile.

You've likely seen this year's Halloween costumes. We've been reading a lot about Bigfoot since we came to the Pacific Northwest. As usual, there has been much note taking and sketching including this drawing that Enzo made depicting Bigfoot Inside and Out. Well, here they are. See also the details: Bigfoot Inside's head and Bigfoot Out's head and toes.

It is well known among cryptozoologists that fauns are not visible in photographs. But as this shows, their shadows are.
