DesigningVashti slip stitch crochet pattern (downloadable pdf)
Yarn shown: Misti Alpaca Tonos Worsted
These are the same Bling Bam Bangles as the beginner-friendly crochet pattern at DesigningVashti (and in Ravelry).
The only difference is that I added 1 or 2 extra strands of the sequined thread. Sometimes I mixed the colors of them.
Sister Act features love knots (solomons knots, lover's knot stitch) in a shawl that easily converts to a bolero-style shrug with two short seams. Crochet design by Vashti Braha, published in the summer 2013 issue of Interweave Crochet magazine.

Crocheted Lady Kokeshi Dolls
The real traditional Kokeshi dolls feature oversized heads, are armless and legless, and are carved in Japan. They were vintage tourist gifts, brought home from hot springs visits. Various areas developed particular styles and characteristics within the genre.
I saw some of the wood originals that resembled elegant ladies. This pattern is inspired by them.
The pattern includes instructions for two sizes of dolls, several hair/wig styles and several obi (wrap/sash) styles. The smaller doll is about 6.5 inches using the hook and yarn size prescribed.
A shallow triangle with beaded edges, crocheted in a fancy stitch from the bottom center point (easy to choose to make it any size). This scarf-sized one took one ball (256 yds) DesigningVashti Lotus yarn. Add another ball for a full shawl size.

Short-rowed cuff.
Yarn: Briggs and Little Softspun (2 plies, medium high s-twist; 100% Canadian wool: Columbia breed? Woolen spun?)
A set I just completed at the end of Feb. 2013 and I've already worn it often because the colors work well with jeans and the colors I tend to wear.
I love the luster and drape and am watching to see how this thread holds up to wear.
I used a high-gloss, high-twist, many-plied vintage rayon thread. I'd love to test it side by side with a comparable pure silk. (See my Crochet Inspirations newsletter issue #47 for more on this). The necklace and bracelet (from "Sweet Almonds Jewelry Set") are shown here linked up and wrapped.

Ribbed Turtleneck
Granny Smith Green: ch 26, 25 sc, ch 1, turn, 25 sc, continue until 50 rows total.
Cable Sweater
**To attach Turtleneck to Cable Sweater:
Chocolate Brown: 50 sc around Ribbed Turtleneck; ch 3, 50 dc, turn, ch 3, 50 dc, turn, ch 3, 50 dc.
**Colour change:
Cut yarn, leaving a tail, and draw it all the way through the slip stitch to secure it. Join the new colour by drawing it through.
Teal Blue: turn, ch 3, 50 dc, turn, ch 3, 50 dc, turn, ch 3, 50 dc.
Repeat colour change, as directed above.
Caramel Brown: turn, ch 3, 50 dc, turn, ch 3, 50 dc, turn, ch 3, 50 dc.
Granny Smith Green: turn, ch 3, 50 dc, turn, ch 3, 50 dc, turn, ch 3, 50 dc.
Repeat from Chocolate Brown (x2, so each colour appears 3x)
With Granny Smith Green, sc all the way around; 33 + 1 + 50 + 1 + 33; turn ch 1.
**To make the leg opening:
12 sc, ch 9, sk 9, sc to the end of side; 1 sc, 50 sc, 1, sc, 12 sc, ch 9, sk9, sc to the end of side, turn, ch 1.
sc all the way around. 9 sc in each leg opening.
Join with slip stitch. Fasten off.
