An art picnic for adults and children alike at the west exit plaza of Ikuta Ryokuchi, rich in nature! The picnic will be held at the west exit plaza of Ikuta Ryokuchi.
This is an art event where you can casually experience art in a picnic space where you can enjoy three workshops and picture books where you can "see, be, and create" art in a forest rich in nature located by the town.
Date: Sunday, October 30, 2022, 10:00-17:00
Venue: Ikuta Ryokuchi West Exit Plaza (next to Taro Okamoto Museum of Art), Kawasaki, Japan
Details of the "Create" workshop and project
With the cooperation of the Ikuta Collaborative, we will create and exhibit artworks utilizing natural materials. Come listen to nature experts, touch the plants of Ikuta Ryokuchi, and create your own artwork while chatting with them. Using logs and branches cut into rounds, we will arrange them in the west exit plaza as if we were planting a tree, and display them like a small forest.

Mechan 1 & Mechan 1000 – Two robots frozen in time. One is made of metal and appears fresh off the factory line and one seems to be an ancient prototype for it is made of wood. Both robots have a hand outstretched towards the other with a finger pointing right at the opposing robot. The metal one holds an axe. The wooden one holds a wrench. Are they here to fight? Did they some how create each other? And where did they come from? Who built them? So many questions that can be answered with a bit of creative sleuthing.

Sitting in the center of Millennium Park, this sculpture absorbs everything around it. It's surroundings become a part of art when it reflects back the city of Chicago, a bride and the weather. To get a good look at the sculpture means becoming a part of it. Your face, clothing, movement all are a part of The Bean and thus it is ever changing.
